PM Modi: AI Is The New Hope

While launching Wadhwani Institute of Artificial Intelligence (WIAI) at Mumbai University’s Kalina campus, PM Modi has hailed AI as the new hope for all Indians, as it can solve problems, and increase productivity.

He asked Indians not to fear AI but use it to get a better life.

He said, that whenever a disruptive technology is introduced, it induces fear, and this is normal.

He said,

“Every stage of technology revolution has created such doubts. It leads us to two ways: it brings hopes and aspiration and fears and disruption,”

PM Modi reminded all that ancient Indian philosophy connected science with spirituality, and AI is just another extension of this same line of thinking.

He said,

“I am reminded of the gyansukht from the Yajur Veda”,

WIAI is a philanthropic effort by Wadhwani brothers, Romesh and Sunil, wherein data scientists from all over the world will work together to bring out innovative solutions in the tech sector.

…I’m curious to know where the teachers who will teach these learnt THEIR skills…? Did they think of it themselves? (that would be AWESOME!!)

A very welcoming move by our Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi. He has embraced the inevitable global change. I was expecting some kind of government communication to the masses to remain calm and coming up with a strategic initiative to convert these disruptive technologies to our advantage and springboard India to greater holistic growth. It has come at the right time. Kudos to the government. What remains to be seen is the execution part which must be masterful in order for this work, all the parts have to work well, period!
