Yu Yureka 2 Launched! The New Budget Flagship?

 

Micromax has launched their mid-range flagship Yu Yureka 2 today. Being the latest one in the Yureka series, Yu Yureka 2 will feature the much-beloved Snapdragon 625 chipset with 4GB RAM, a 16 megapixel rear camera and a beefy 3930 mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 support.

The smartphone will be a Flipkart exclusive, and will go on sale during the Big Billion Sale.

Yu Yureka 2 – Specifications and Features

The specs of the Yu Yureka 2 are very similar to Redmi Note 4, but at a better price.

Design

Yu Yureka 2 has a sturdy build, and boasts a good, comfortable shape. The fingerprint sensor is located at the back below the rear camera.

Display

The Yureka 2 will come with a 5.5” Full HD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and 2.5D curved glass on top.

Hardware

The device will get powered by Qualcomm’s stable Snapdragon 625 SoC paired with with 4GB RAM.

Software

With a solid list of specs on board, the Yu Yureka 2 is a major let down with its software. The device will run on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box. Micromax hasn’t revealed when the device will get the Nougat update. It might not see an update by the end of this year.

Storage

The device will come with 64GB of onboard storage, which can be further expanded up to 128GB.

SIM Support

Sadly, Yu Yureka 2 will come with a hybrid SIM card slot  which will force users to choose between having two SIM cards or a memory card and a single SIM.

Camera

Yureka 2 sports a 16MP rear camera with dual tone LED flash. Up front the device packs an 8MP shooter.

Connectivity

All major connectivity options are available on the handset. It includes 4G LTE with VoLTE support, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS and a micro USB port.

Battery

The device will pack in a big 3930 mAh battery, which claims to give a solid two-day back up with moderate usage and supports Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging.

Yu Yureka 2 has been priced at Rs. 11,999 and will come in a single Gold colour variant. It will be a Flipkart Exclusive product, and will be available to buy from September 20.

Yu Yureka 2 has some great specs on board at this price, but also has some not-go-good things at the same time.

Alternatives

At Rs. 11,999 , Yu Yureka 2 will face direct competition from established players like Redmi Note 4, Honor 6X, Moto G5, Nokia 5, Lenovo K8 Plus and Coolpad Cool 1.

Verdict

Yu Yureka 2 does seem good on paper considering the price. It may have borrowed a lot from Redmi Note 4, but Yu Yureka 2 has some top specs, albeit with outdated software. It will go on sale during Flipkart’s Big Billion Day Sale, so you can expect the Yu Yureka 2 at a better price with cashback offers.
