Even though Reliance Jio has officially established its reign over the telecom market, Airtel, Vodafone and Idea Cellular are not leaving any stones unturned to counter Jio. The monthly packs are now almost the same across these companies, which ultimately leaves a user wondering if there is any point to switch to Jio.

Recently, Vodafone launched some hourly packs called ‘SuperHours’ that allowed a user to get unlimited data for one hour at Rs. 16/- only. Adding to this, Vodafone has launched two more packs for its users.

The cheaper pack, available at Rs. 7/- per hour, will give all prepaid and post-paid Vodafone users unlimited Vodafone-to-Vodafone local calls. The second pack, priced at Rs. 21/-, will give users access to unlimited 4G/3G for one hour from activation of the pack.

“1 hour duration will be based from the time the pack is made active in Vodafone systems for all packs,” Vodafone India said on its app – My Vodafone. 3G/4G Super Hour will not be applicable in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.

In the telecom service areas of Mumbai and Maharashtra and Goa, Voice Super Hour will get activated from the next nearest hour. For example, if unlimited Vodafone to Vodafone local voice pack gets activated at 2.45 pm, customer will get the unlimited Vodafone to Vodafone local voice benefit from 3pm.

You can buy this offer on My Vodafone, or call up the customer care. Prepaid and Post-paid users can dial *444*21# to activate these offers. Not a lot of telecom companies have hourly plans like these, which give an edge to Vodafone India.

Comparison of hourly 4G and unlimited calling plans

Idea Cellular and Aircel have their hourly plans for unlimited internet. Idea offers unlimited 4G/3G benefits at Rs. 22/- an hour and the speeds have been seen to be pretty good. Moreover, Idea is prevalent mostly in states like Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Goa.

Aircel also launched its hourly packs at Rs. 15/-. This packs offers unlimited 3G and is available only in select states right now. This leaves us with just Vodafone having connectivity in most states and its pack available there as well.

Airtel and Reliance Jio have not bothered to enter this domain, but super hour packs can be pretty useful if you want to stream your favourite show, download a movie and some songs or video call someone across the globe. An hour of unlimited data, with no fair usage policy, can really let you get the best out of 4G speeds.
