Bus Hire

In the race of hiring vehicles for long distance commutes, RedBus has introduced a new service that allows users to hire buses, mini-buses, tempos and cars. Uber and Ola both offer inter-city vehicles or outstation vehicles that make it easy for someone to book a car for a long travel.

GoIbibo itself has ‘goCars’ for intercity travels, and now RedBus has also started offering it to its customers. Instead of having a specific inventory in place, RedBus will partner with vehicle owners and taxi services that would offer such vehicles for travel.

RedBus hire helps you hire a bus from the best bus operators in your city, currently operational in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune, Bengaluru and Ahmedabad, with plans to expand the same to other cities.

The best part is that once you enter your trip details, RedBus will work with the best operators in your city to get you detailed quotations, so that you get the best deal. Payment terms vary from operator to operator. Usually, operators ask for a 50% advance to confirm the booking and balance 50% at the start of the journey.

An excerpt on RedBus’ page reads, “Use redBus to rent a vehicle for your group of friends, family or colleagues, say goodbye to all your tensions and just rent any type of bus (Ac/Non Ac) and reach your destination in a jiffy. Renting a bus is always easy and smooth on redBus, you can go ahead and hire a bus and reward yourself a luxurious journey.”

You can rent a bus for one-way and return trips as well as for local or outstation journeys. Buses are more economical than renting multiple cars, and provide you comfort and ease during travel. It is one of the best choices for going out with an extended family.

Tempo Traveller, Toyota Innova, Swift DZire, Toyota Etios, Volvo Buses, Mini-Bus, Tavera and Indica/Ritz are available for journey of your choice. Whether it is corporate travel, Marriage, Vacation, Pilgrimage, Holiday and Outing or just a weekend gateway, RedBus will manage the bookings for you.

How to make a booking and other FAQs

For booking a vehicle, users first need to provide details of the trip, indicate whether it is a local or an outstation trip and what the pickup point will be. As with all trips, users also have to enter the start and the end dates and hours they need the vehicle for.

To make the booking more convenient, users need to fill the number of travelers, and other options like AC or non-AC vehicle and type of vehicle. Once done, RedBus will contact operators and get back to you within 2 hours with optimal results. There is no booking fees involved whatsoever.

In case of outstation trips, Kilometers are calculated basis the return trip distance between the source and destination.Any extra kilometers which are used within the city and the distance from the garage are not calculated. In case of a breakdown, it is the bus operator’s responsibility to replace the vehicle during the journey, so you don’t have to worry.

For select operators, RedBus allows you to pay directly on their website. You can make the payment in two installments. You can pay 25% to confirm your book, and the balance one week before the date of Journey. The second installment can be paid on a later date, and a link will be sent to your mail.

Tolls and other fees will be calculated on a rough basis. In case you have been charged tolls but there were no tolls on the way, then you will be issued a refund. If you cancel the trips, then you might be charged a little depending on the policies.

RedBus is one of the largest bus-booking platform right now and it has taken itself to a new level by allowing users to book buses and tempos. These are not self-drive ones so keep in mind that there will be a driver at all times. Instead of checking with your local bus operator, you can also take a look on RedBus next time to see if you get a better deal.
