Airtel Mobile Prepaid Postpaid Data Tariff Plans

After the commercial launch of Reliance Jio, telcos like Airtel and Vodafone started mitigating their losses by launching cheaper unlimited 3G and 4G plans in India. Airtel’s unlimited 4G mobile data and Vodafone’s superNET 4G data plan did launch, but with a few caveats.

Joining the bandwagon, Airtel has launched another plan that will offer additional 14GB 4G data on the purchase of 1GB of 4G internet pack. This plan will be available on the ‘My Airtel’ app and you will have to download the app to access the pack.

All one has to do is download the My Airtel app on their smartphone and request a recharge of 1GB 4G data for themselves. The price of 1GB of 4G internet pack is around Rs. 250, so essentially you’re getting 15GB of super-fast 4G data at Rs. 250, which makes it Rs. 17 per GB.

How to get this offer on Airtel?

Provided you have a 4G enabled smartphone and Airtel’s 4G prepaid sim card, you’re eligible to get this offer. When you recharge from the My Airtel app, you will get an extra 14GB worth of 4G data on your phone for the next three months, automatically. This is just a promotional offer and this is probably the biggest catch.

To be honest, even if this offer is for just three months, it is something that Airtel users can take full advantage of. Airtel’s services in large cities is still decent, and speeds are good. Moreover, till the next three months, the competition is going to get intense and more such packs might be introduced.

Interestingly, for a few Samsung phones, in non-4G telecom circles, users will get 1GB of 3G data for daytime usage and an additional 14GB for night usage, 12am to 6am. This data recharge is valid for 3 months, or 3 recharges, whichever happens earlier.

These free offers and data packs seem to be to just hold the Airtel customers till the end of this year, as Jio services will move out of the their trial period by then. There are other promotional offers for high-usage customers and regular recharges for other customers.

If you have not been able to get hold of a Reliance Jio sim card, you can go for some of the new recharge offers by Airtel and Vodafone. They have realized that customer attrition is high and more data recharge packs will have to be released to retain its loyal customers.

Is there a Catch?

Prima Facie, we do not see any catch in this offer – and that is really good.  Actually, there is a catch – The 14GB data can used only between 12am and 6am – so for an average user, it is useless. It will help users who are late-nighters or the ones who can schedule their downloads during the night..

And yes, Users need to download the My Airtel app and they qualify to get the additional 4G data.

Interestingly, Airtel had also recently announced their ‘Data Dhamaka’ offer, where users who consume higher-than-average data are being offered 10GB free data by Airtel. This free data is directly credited to the users’ accounts. If you are one of those users who have received this offer, do let us know in comments below!

The facts provided here are wrong. I got this 15GB promotional offer on my OnePlus One using the Airtel App. And the 15GB 4G data can be consumed any time in the day.

No, the information provided is not wrong, if you have the smart phone which is not supported 4g service then you can not consume 14 GB data at day time, you can use it by 12 AM TO 6 AM.

Ya there is a catch I guess. We need to buy Samsung J series mobile now.

is the news reporter kidding us ? it clearly says it is a NIGHT ONLY OFFER 14 GB to be used only during night 12 to 6.. Can Airtel also teleport us to United States so that we can actively use the data during daytime and “SLEEP AT NIGHT” which is must for survival.
