Nokia is returning to the smartphone business and two new smartphones have been rumoured to be launched this year. However, only one has been spotted online on AnTuTu and it definitely holds the hype.

The smartphone, internally called the D1C, has surfaced online on Geekbench in the past, and now on AnTuTu benchmarking website. The benchmarking websites and apps reveal the specifications of the smartphones, and have been used to predict the features in the production model.

Geekbench confirmed it, and now AnTuTu does too, D1C will come with an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC clocked at 1.4GHz, couples with 3GB RAM and Adreno 505 GPU. These specs are in line with the assumption of Nokia phones to be in the mid-range.

AnTuTu benchmarks also reveal that the phone will come with a 13MP rear-facing camera with flash, and we think the optics will be great, along with an 8MP front-facing selfie camera. The phone will have 32GB internal memory which could be made expandable using microSD card slots.

Now that Android Nougat 7.0 is available, D1C will also come with 7.0 out of the box, with 7.1 making entry at a later stage. We really hope Nokia does not add a skin like it did for its previous Android phones, and keeps it close to stock Android for a richer experience.

What can we expect from this phone?

Carl Zeiss and Pure View lenses won’t be making their way to this smartphone. Unfortunately, this phone is a mid-range one and Nokia will not be putting these high-quality lenses into an inexpensive phone.

In fact, the company is working on two other premium smartphones that could have a host of specifications and internals to out-run the existing players. D1C will also not boast of a superior battery life, because Nokia’s past experiences have not been very sweet.

However, like the older Nokia phones, the build quality on this one should be commendable. Nokia always makes durable phones with a tough exterior that is hard to break, coming close to that of Motorola’s smartphones. The company might also plan to make it a thin device to continue with the existing trend.

Let’s see how Nokia plans to make a comeback and create a hype around its phones. The smartphones are expected to be launched soon, so stay tuned for more leaks and info!
