RCOM’s New ‘Welcome Offer’ Gives 1 GB 3G Data For Less Than Rs 50!

Anil Ambani led Reliance Communication wants to counter Mukesh Ambani led Reliance Jio with equal power and intensity; and the battle lines have been drawn.

In an unprecedented move, Reliance Communication has launched ‘Welcome Offer’ for new customers, which provides 1 GB of 3G data for less than Rs 50. If we observe the terminology of ‘Welcome Offer’, and the price points, then it is clearly designed to counter the Jio tsunami.

After the merger with Aircel, this is Reliance Communication’s first new salvo at acquiring new customers, with exciting offerings.

3G Data For Less Than Rs 50

Targeting 3G data users, Reliance Communication has launched two new offers:

a) Rs 496 plan, which offers talk time of 496 minutes of talk time and 10 GB of 3G data, which makes per GB cost only Rs 49.60, which is 40 paisa less than what Jio is offering. Besides, for three months, each call would cost only 25 paisa.

b) Rs 295 plan, which offers 295 talk time and 3GB of 3G data with 25 paisa per minute calling for 3 months.

These new welcome offers have been launched pan-India, and the customer can recharge unlimited number of times within 3 months. After this period, it is expected that a new tariff would be launched.

Not to miss 2G userbase, Reliance Comm. has also launched Welcome Offer for Rs 141, which will provide 5GB of 2G data and talk time of 141 minutes; and 25 paisa per minute calling for 3 months.

Special Voice Calling Plan for Existing Users

Smartly, Reliance Communication has launched special plans for existing users as well; however these plans only exist for voice usage, not data.

For Delhi-NCR customers, a special ‘Non-Stop Plan’ has been launched, which will provide 1000 local and STD minutes for only Rs 153. A similar plan was launched in Andhra Pradesh as well; and reports are in that soon such voice plans would be offered pan-India.

Merger With Jio Was Not True Then?

Last month, during a meeting with shareholders, Anil Ambani had assured all stake-holders that the future of Reliance Communication is safe, because they have enough spectrum for 2G and 3G data usage; and they have virtually merged with Reliance Jio for offering the best services.

Anil had said, “We are confident about the future of Reliance Communications and its market position. We have accomplished a virtual merger between Reliance Communications and Reliance Jio..”

However, going by the recent announcements of plans which are cheaper than what Jio is offering, it seems that the merger talks were just a way of assuring share holders about their plans, and there is nothing official about it.

I received notification of 299/- puja special offer for Aircel. It promises 2GB in that amount and after that pay only 31/- for each 1GB. I have recharged with 299/- and will see if it gives 1GB for that. The problem is there is no information about this offer on Aircel 3G data tariff web page. The short notification does not say how long this plan is valid and what is the catch, if any.

This offer is valid as confirmed by Aircel through Twitter, but you will get the validity of the initial recharge i.e the validity period will not get extended.

Stay awake from Rcom’s fake offers. These are Just like their 4G 10GB upgrade offers.

Comparing a 4G network with 3G is foolish.
