Vodafone seems to leave no stone unturned in promoting its 4G services in Delhi NCR. It has been setting up stalls in popular areas in Gurgaon to grab maximum attention and market its services more efficiently than the leading providers of 4G in Gurgaon, Airtel.
Within only a week of launch of 4G in Gurgaon and subsequently Delhi and other regions in NCR, Vodafone has launched its high speed services in Mumbai in select areas for now. It was high time Vodafone launched its 4G services, which had been scheduled to be launched in December 2015.
Vodafone 4G is already now available in Delhi-NCR, Karnataka, Mumbai, Kerala and Kolkata.
In a statement released by the company, Sunil Sood, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer at Vodafone India, said, “We are delighted to launch our high-speed 4G services in Mumbai for our customers to experience the most advanced wireless broadband experience available across the globe today. Initial response from customers who have experienced our 4G services in Kerala, Karnataka, Kolkata and Delhi & NCR has been positive and encouraging.”
Details of the launch and offers
As communicated by Vodafone, the rollout will be done in a phased manner starting from South Bombay and gradually moving upwards. The infrastructure needs to be put in place for full rollout to take place and it is expected to be achieved by March 2016. Field tests were being conducted since last year and a final go ahead was needed from the testing teams to implement the services.
As with other locations in India, Mumbai subscribers will be able to get the 4G ready SIM card in exchange of their existing SIM card to graduate from 3G to 4G.
Any 4G enabled smartphones will be able to use the high speed internet services from Vodafone. Vodafone will not be charging anything for the upgraded SIM and price of 4G services will be same as existing 3G packs available in Mumbai.
Vodafone is also offering some bundled offers with the new services, which include three months free subscription to Vodafone Play, Vodafone Music, Hungama Play and Hooq Video. Not a bad offer if you look at it, because at least for three months you’ll be having access to these premium services.
A very interesting piece of information was communicated by Sunil Sood, that even on international roaming, 4G services can be used in Britain, Germany, Romania, Spain and the Netherlands for now, with more countries to be added in the portfolio. This is music to the ears of frequent flyers and travelling enthusiasts.
Silicon Valley of India, Bangalore, is expected to taste the 4G internet this week itself, which is an exciting news for all techies out there. We sure hope to see the second phase rollout of Vodafone 4G in India, now that the first phase is almost complete.
