Amazon has started offering hyperlocal grocery delivery service called Amazon Now in select areas in Bangalore starting 1st February. While they have not made an official announcement as yet, the Android app of Amazon Now has gone live and is catering to 74 pin codes in Bangalore.
We had reported in March last year that Amazon would be launching Kirana Now, a marketplace for neighbourhood Kirana stores. This hyperlocal delivery service seems to be the first step towards creating that marketplace.
Amazon Now seems to have partnered with about 6-7 stores like Big Bazaar, Reliance Fresh, Godrej Nature’s Basket, BPCL In & Out, Food World and Good Food. Users can order Cooking essentials, Personal care essentials, Snacks, Beverages, Household essentials, Gourmet products and more from these stores through the app and get them delivered to the doorstep in within 2 hours.
As a launch promotion, Amazon is offering Express Delivery (within 2 hours) and Scheduled Delivery (for same day or next day) completely free of cost. It is not clear whether the delivery services will be charged after the launch promotion is over.
Amazon has come out with a video ad that highlights the fast delivery services provided by Amazon Now.
Amazon Now Feedback by Users
While the app has been live only for couple of days on Google Play store, those who have used the app seems to have give rave reviews for Amazon Now service. Users have appreciated not only the service, but also how well the app has been made.

Smooth working app! Firstly the two hour delivery concept is great. Not a very heavy app that takes forever to install…the item list with images also loads pretty quickly. .with my phone and Internet it loads16 items in one go. Pretty great! It shows the detailed description on the same page after selection. So doesn’t waste time loading a separate description page. Being a designer, I liked the silhouette image in the main menu tab that corresponds to the city. Nice touch! Hope amazon launches it soon in other cities!!
Among the 80 odd reviews that the app has got, it has a rating of 4.9 stars indicating that majority of them are very happy with the services!
