India Post Opens Exclusive Shipping Counters For eBay Sellers

To say that India Post has transformed is an understatement – For a Government organization of that size, it is extremely difficult to adapt to changing circumstance. But India Post has successfully done it in last 12 to 18 months. It must be said that they are on their way to become new age nimble organization!

In yet another move to capture eCommerce space, India Post has opened up exclusive counters at the Business Post Centres in Gurgaon and Faridabad exclusively for eBay India sellers, reports ET.

Through these exclusive shipping counters, eBay India sellers will be able to ship their international as well as domestic parcels. eBay India has over 65,000 sellers in India.

Umesh Verma India Post Master General Gurgaon & Faridabad said, “The counter for eBay sellers at Gurgaon and Faridabad business post center will be exclusive for them to send their products through speed post, registered post or any other service they wish to opt for in both the cities. ”

India Post Growth in eCommerce Delivery Space

Given the unmatched reach that India Post has (of over 1.55 Lakh post offices), they become an attractive logistics partner for eCommerce companies in India. Previously India Post was always looked upon as a slow and lazy delivery partner, but it has changed, and this change has reaped rich benefits for them.

India Post recently announced that they have clocked a revenue of over Rs. 1000 Cr purely from eCommerce Cash Deliveries in first 9 month of current fiscal and are targeting Rs. 1500 crore by the end of the year.

Other Developments

We had previously reported that Amazon India, Snapdeal and Shopclues have already partnered with India Post for CODs across India; while their association with Paytm and others have helped them to boost parcel revenues by 37%.

In fact, India Post has announced that they will help farmer to sell their products online. Very soon, we might also see India Post’s own ECommerce Portal which has potential to become India’s largest online marketplace.

Besides converting your selfies into postage stamp, India Post will also take on Alibaba’s massive B2B platform and will also launch their own payment bank very soon, which has been approved by the Government.

India Post’s newest app called Post Info is already launched with a focus on ecommerce; and this is just a beginning.
