The problem of cleanliness is big deal in India; this is the reason that PM Modi had to launch a special mission called “Swachh Bharat” (Clean India) to ensure that our cities and villages are free from garbage.

Under AAP, Delhi Government has now used technology to introduce an intelligent system of making Delhi clean. On some level, it can be described as a logical extension of Swachh Bharat mission, albeit its technologically superior and better oriented.

Delhi Govt. has introduced Swachh Delhi App, which tracks the location of the photo, and alerts the concerned civic body about the garbage issue. This app was launched by Arvind Kejriwal, along with three mayors of the municipal corporations were present.

A Govt. official explained the process to download: “The users can give a missed call on 7666400400 following which they will receive an SMS containing the link to download this application. It can also be downloaded from the Google playstore..”

Smart Solution for Garbage Removal

This is probably the first time that an intelligent and smart solution has been devised, based on citizen’s participation and Govt.’s initiative to remove garbage.

Once a user clicks a photograph of garbage scattered around, the app will track the GPS location of that image, and send them to a centralized server maintained by Delhi Govt. The server will pass on the information to the concerned civic authorities, and the garbage would be removed in no time.

PWD (Public Works Department) and MCD (Municipal Corporation of Delhi) has been assigned the responsibility to keep Delhi clean using this app. While PWD will take the responsibility of cleaning concrete waste, MCD will clean all other types of garbage lying on roads and residential areas.

Swachh Delhi App An Instant Hit

Within 24 hours of the launch of this app, Delhi Govt. had received more than 2200 images from all over the city.

Arvind Kejriwal tweeted: “Thank u Delhi 4 huge response. 2200 photos of garbage/ malba recd in less than 24 hrs.”

On the sidelines of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Delhi Govt’s will launch a dedicated program called Swachh Delhi Abhiyan between November 22 and November 30. This app was launched as part of this program. Swacch Delhi Abhiyan would be officially launched by Union urban development minister M Venkaiah Naidu on November 22.

You can download this app on Google Playstore here.

This is complete nautanki. Does government need photos to find garbage locations? Most Indian cities have garbage heaps on every road and street. People would happily make a call to inform the location of garbage if city municipality really worked and lifted garbage after receiving complaint. At most places, after the collection truck does not arrive for several days, local people themselves burn the garbage heap. There are designated places with garbage bins all over the city. Government does not need photo of such places. It has to lift garbage from such places every day.

    Dear Modi,

Please learn from Krjriwal and stop wasting our hard earned money on your random senseless plans.
You did nothing on Clean Ganga Project. Even here in Varanasi, you cheated us.

Shame on me who trusted you for good.

I would love to have one more feature in this app. Take pic of people who litter the city and upload it. Server should scan for the person through image and apply a fine. Fine can be implemented directly to your account. This thought is not refined. But something like this should be there, so that people will have a fear no to litter.
