Mi 4 Pricing

After introducing significant price cuts for Xiaomi Mi 4 64 GB from Rs. 23,999 to Rs. 19,999 in the last few days, the Chinese smartphone giant Xiaomi has announced price slash for the Mi 4 16 GB version as well.

“We are announcing price cut of Mi 4 16 GB model to Rs 14,999. It will be effective from 9 pm tonight at Flipkart and mi.com and soon available across our other channel partners,” said Hugo Barra, Xiaomi’s global Vice President.

It is worth noting that Xiaomi had earlier decreased the price of Xiaomi Mi 4 16 GB to Rs. 17,999 from its Rs. 19,999 launch price in April.

With the second price drop, Mi 4 16 GB would become a serious threat to not only Samsung Galaxy A3, One Plus One 16 GB, and Asus Zenfone 2, but also to its own Mi 4i!

So let’s take a look at the key specifications of Mi 4 and Mi 4i:

Hardware Xiaomi Mi 4 16 GB Xiaomi Mi 4i 16 GB

Current Price Rs. 14,999 Rs. 12,999

And, here is something more – Flipkart has an exchange offer that will bring down the price as low as Rs. 9,999/- for exchange of your old handset! Make sure you buy before the stocks get over!

Both phones support other standard connectivity options like WLAN, Wi-Direct, GPS with A-GPS and GLONASS, and microUSB 2.0 with support for USB Host.

Both the phones are fast in operation but Mi 4 is far ahead of Mi 4i in terms of sheer performance. On the other hand, Mi 4i comes with Lollipop pre-installed out-of-the-box. Mi 4 is also slated to receive Android Lollipop in near future but you’ll probably wait to wait a couple of few weeks (hopefully) for it.

So in the end, the comparison will become all about the aesthetics. I would anytime choose the Mi 4 over Mi 4i, but if the price tag is a concern for you, or if you don’t want to invest too much in a phone which doesn’t have expandable memory (which both of them doesn’t have), then it would make more sense to buy the Xiaomi Mi 4i.

Xiaomi must have been well aware of the fact that their decision to slash the price of the 16 GB version of Mi 4 would seriously impact the sales of Mi 4i, but may be they want to phase out the Mi 4, or clear their existing stock of Mi 4 16 GB.

In any case, the users have multiple reasons to rejoice. Which one would you choose and why? Do let us know.
