While Oxford is trying coin a word for online shopping addiction, things in the e-commerce sites are changing rapidly. Just like the revenues, e-commerce sites are adding many customer friendly features to lure customers. A recent study revealed that now some Indians are spending more time online shopping than they would actually spend in stores! In many instances, online window shopping takes over social media for recreation, the study points.

According to media reports, Snapdeal Customers can now order products by availing COD option and on delivery they can pay for the order by their debit or credit cards. Snapdeal has confirmed this move in 120 cities and towns to make online shopping even more easier.

Ashish Chitravanshi, Snapdeal VP said, “The solution has been developed in partnership with GoJavas. Now customers can select the pay by card on delivery option, just like they would for COD. We are rolling this out in 120 cities” The reason for this, he said, “Many times, customers complained about lack of change or not having enough cash handy, asking the delivery boys to come at a later time. We expect this facility to help them in this regard.”

This service has already been made available across metros and cities like Agra, Ahmedabad, Ajmer, Aligarh, Bareilly, Chandigarh, Darjeeling, Gorakhpur, Hisar, Kanyakumari and Ooty.

Interestingly, Flipkart is not the first to offer this kind of feature. Way back in 2012, Jabong became the first Indian ecommerce site to offer this feature to their customers. Flipkart and Amazon too have it, but for limited cities. Snapdeal is actually one of the last large ecommerce sites to offer card payment for CoD orders.

While CoD is still used by many,  it is no more the preferred payment mode, especially in Metros. However, still preferred to go the COD way for few high value transactions. Generally, transaction values that are more than Rs 20,000 often are COD transactions.

Snapdeal is revamping it’s logistics and delivery operations and by March 2016, the e-commerce giant is expected to invest about Rs.940-1250 crores for that purpose. According to Snapdeal COO Rohit Bansal, they are looking at 10X growth over next 2-3 years which will take their delivery numbers to nearly 80 to 100 million packages a month!

Is Gojavas capable for this? I don’t think so.
It is India’s worst courier company.
If snapdeal start this, they will loose business because of Gojavas.

This makes life much easier. But true and funny part is, no 3rd potential competitor in India. It is always a thug of between SnapDeal and Flipkart. Surprisingly! Flipkart is not the first one to introduce this feature!!

Interestingly, Flipkart is not the first to offer this kind of feature. I believe you meant to write Snapdeal since you have already mentioned flipkart in the next line

Just be judicious while using the exclamation mark

    Rest, interesting article!
