Before the start of ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 things were not all rosy for the defending champions: India. They were defeated by Australians and England in a tri-series in Australia and the mood back home wasn’t exactly upbeat. Their first World Cup match was against Pakistan, and the pressure was huge.

However, despite the odds, Indian cricket fans in India kept on supporting the team, and some of the biggest advertisers in India upped the tempo by creating some really motivational and adrenaline rushing TV commercials.

The positive vibes have been working, and Indians were able to defeat Pakistan and then South Africa followed by UAE till now.

1) Mauka Mauka – India vs Pakistan

Star Sports, which is the official broadcaster of the World Cup, started the trend with an amazing commercial: Mauka Mauka, which was broadcasted a week before India Pakistan match on March 15th. India has never lost to Pakistan in a world cup match, and the advertisement showcases the sentiments of a Pakistani fan who is waiting for their team to beat India, but never succeeds.

This commercial has already generated whooping 2 million + views as of now, and became huge popular across India.

2) Mauka Mauka – India vs South Africa

On February 15th, 7 days before India vs South Africa match, Star Sports broadcasted the second Mauka commercial, this time featuring South African team. India has never lost to South Africa as well, and the fact was confirmed yet again.

With 1.9 million views, this commercial also broke all records of popularity.

3) Mauka Mauka – India vs West Indies

Broadcasted on February 28th, and targeted for the next India vs West Indies match which will happen on March 6th, this latest Mauka ad by Star Sports is receiving some interesting reviews. Given the popularity of these ads, Star Sports have now tied up with YepMe.com for promoting online shopping. It has already received 1.03 million views and this series is being considered as a good omen for the Indian team!

After these ads became viral, Star Sports has increased the TV ad rates to Rs 20 lakh for 10 second spot. And interestingly, the concept of Mauka ads were created by an inhouse team of Star Sports.

Also, the Mauka Mauka ads have been such a hit that Indians are now looking forward to every match to see what the new ad would be. And it would also be interesting to see how the ads will be made if Indian loses!

4) #WontGiveItBack & Shamitabh

Star Sports have done their homework for this world cup it seems, as their next campaign: #WontGiveItBack picked momentum and became hugely popular. They even collaborated with team of Shamitabh movie to combine movies and cricket.

In another ad, they collaborated with Shoaib Akhtar and in different commercial, Alia Bhatt.

5) Nike’s #BleedBlue Campaign

During the India Pakistan match, there were total of 1.7 million Tweets and over 118 million impressions related to the cricket match, which was unprecedented according to Twitter officials. Within those Tweets, @NikeCricket and their #BleedBlue campaign garnered maximum eye balls. In fact, Nike has conducted the same #BleedBlue campaign during the last two World Cups as well, and it seems that the audience hadn’t had enough of it.

    I can point 2 mistakes.
    1) week before India Pakistan match on March 15th. (actually it is February 15).

    2) India has never lost to South Africa as well, and the fact was confirmed yet again.
    Actually the advertisement was meant to say India lost all 3 previous matches with SA
