Bangalore Police Raid Fake Ecommerce Shopping Portal BigSop.com Office; Founders Arrested!
Based on complaints registered via Twitter, Bangalore Crime Branch took action against a fake ecommerce portal which advertised too-good-to-be-true offers, and then duped ignorant customers. The raid was well documented on Bangalore Crime Branch’s Facebook page as well as Tweeted by Abhishek Goyal who is an IPS officer with Crime Branch, Bangalore.
The Modus Operandi
BigSop.com, which is now taken down, used to advertise offers such as “You are lucky Internet winner for iPhone for Rs 599”. Tempted by such incredible offers, which is mainly driven by the huge ecommerce advertisement wave across the whole country, customers used to register on the website, and pay the sum. The website used to advertise heavily in every major search engines and portals, thereby garnering maximum eyeballs.
The payments were processed using ICICI Bank payment gateway.
Of course BigSop.com had some other plans. Once the deposit of Rs 599 was made, they used to calmly inform that the iPhone is now not available. Instead, the money was cunningly converted into their internal ‘points’, which could only be used to purchase products from their own website. And, as it was later found out after the raid, the products available were mainly sub-standard, and without any warranty or guarantee.
The Raid
The cheated customers posted several Tweets and sent emails to the Bangalore Crime Branch against this fraud ecommerce portal. Under the supervision of DCP Crime, Abhishek Goyal, they located the office premises in Bangalore (the address of which has been withheld for security reasons) and raided the premises.
Bangalore Crime Branch found Rs 75 lakh in the bank accounts of BigSop.com, which has been reportedly sealed now.
As seen in the images released by Crime Branch, BigSop.com had established a full fledged call center to receive calls and to pitch in their ‘incredible’ but fake offers.

Consumers: Beware!
Kudos to Bangalore Crime Branch for taking quick action against the fraudsters and arresting them. The founders would have silently escaped with the booty, if there had been no complains registered.
Hence, there are mainly two lessons for the new age, ecommerce buyer here:
a) Don’t fall in the trap of such offers. iPhone for Rs 599 does sound fishy, and 9 out of 10 times, it will be fishy. When the offer, any offer in general, sounds too good to be true, then it probably is fake.
b) In case you have experienced such fraud, then don’t wait to complain. If the offer was well advertised, then there will be more victims, and the police will have to take action.

I tried no +91 9590360475 as provided by you and their previous no 08065695335 and first one is switched off and second one does not exist.
I was duped by them to first pay Rs 599 and then Rs 11k to buy tab & watch combo (so that I will get iPhone) which was of worst quality. Never got iPhone.
I was informed that same amount is available in bigsop account for shopping at any point of time through bigsop.
No idea how will I get my money back.

I also paid Rs. 599 through by debit card on 27/2/2014 for participating in lucky draw for i-phone. The co. neither published any name of the draw on their website ever. As per the statement put up on the website, the money paid by us had been converted to bigsop points which could be used for purchase for online shopping on the website. Even after several tries, I could not use the money paid by me for purchase of any item from the website. Later on, I sent a mail to the company and demanded my money back. It sent me mail on 10/3/14 that the customer care executive would contact me within 24 hours. Since then no one has contacted me. Really, Bigsop outsmarted me.

This site is fake site i have done total transaction of three items, as mentioned here iPhone 5s -599, Galaxy Note 3 – 499 & Galaxy s5-899 Total -1997 and it found to be fraud after the 15 days contacted the No. which was available on the web site they told me that the result is not announced you will shortly get the same, I surprised to hear that since i recieved a pop up in portal saying i won the phones but this is real cheating company.

I have not purchased anything on flipkart on their “big billion day”, but I want to share one bad experience with that. It is very long. I want to purchase one item, I have searched it on many websites. On flipkart, it was rs ?699, on amazon – snapdeal and other websites , it was between rs700-rs800. But, very surprisingly on ebay is was rs199. I thought either due to Diwali offers or stock clearance , price is such low. I also checked there is no additional shipping charges, or cash on delivery charges. And I have placed order at 2PM. Shipper location is only 125 km away from my city. In evening at 6PM, I got message(SMS) from flipkart, that your order was placed and one link was given. When I checked that link, It was placed with my name, same item, same address & same phone no, but with cash on delivery rs699. At 8 PM, I got email from ebay, that your product is shipped, courier name is ekart logistics and tracking no. #######. (Tracking no. was very fancy no. like, 1234512345 ) I was not able to track package, so next day I called ebay customer care and also told them this flipkart message. He confirmed that it is fully prepaid order and you don’t have to pay anything on delivery, he also given me seller’s contact no. When I tried to contact seller, his no. is switched off. Meanwhile, I send mail to flipkart and told them I have not placed order on flipkart, so cancel that order. I waited for next 2 days. In that duration, in that item , seller have changed information in that item that on shipping , you have to pay ?810. When I called ebay customer care, they told you have to pay ?810 on delivery. After that I called seller, this time he answered my call. When I asked him , I have placed order on that day, I got shipping details, but till it was not delivered, why it is taking too much time for only 125 km, (I did not give my name , product name initially). He told that they have warehouses at many locations, so sometimes it is taking time. When I told i got courier no. and tracking details, but not able to track. He has no answer for that. When I told that I know you have forwarded that order on flipkart, he told that still its price is low that local market rate. That package is about to come, I got flipkart’s SMS that your order is cancelled(due to my mail to flipkart), if courier man come , you can reject it. But, it was returned from their center(just 4 km away from my home). As per ebay website, this seller is new(regd. on 1 Oct 14), and as per their reviews, all customers have given same feedback,”They should clearly mention cash on delivery charges”. So, I was not only one. As seller unable to send item in given timeframe, ebay has started refund process. Might be, these type of “re”sellers have increased flipkart sale , and make “big billion” day for flipkart.
