[Update: 20th Jan 2015]

Like we reported in the month of September 2014 (read below), the 50:50 joint venture between Snapdeal parent company Jasper Infotech and cable TV distribution network Den Networks Ltd. has launched a TV Shopping channel “Den-Snapdeal TV Shop” and it has gone live. The channel is currently available to all subscribers of Den TV Network. This channel will soon be extended to other cable and DTH operators over the next 6 months.

The “Den Snapdeal TV Shop” website has also gone live and currently lists lists “Live Deals” that are being currently talked on the TV Channel. The website also features live feed of the channel that is being broadcasted to Den Subscribers.

The concept of Television shopping is not new. HomeShop18, another Indian eCommerce player has been successfully doing it for past few years. However, creating a complete new channel dedicated to shopping from a single marketplace is not something we have seen earlier.

Let’s see how popular it gets!

The fight is ON! Indian E-Commerce space currently has 3 major players – Flipkart vs Snapdeal vs Amazon – who are fighting tooth and nail with each other to increase their market share. They are marketing themselves aggressively through every channel possible, be it newspapers, Television, online ads or Social media.

Apart from aggressive marketing, all the three players are trying to go one-up by launching new features or coming up with schemes in order to attract more online buyers.

Now, Snapdeal.com seems to have come up with something that no other e-Commerce player has ventured into – They are planning to launch a dedicated TV shopping channel to woo more customers.

Den Snapdeal

Delhi based Jasper Infotech Pvt. Ltd., the company that owns Snapdeal has formed a 50:50 Joint venture with cable TV distribution network Den Networks Ltd.

This JV has been setup to create a new TV channel that will showcase branded and unbranded products on Snapdeal marketplace and facilitate their buy on the platform. The TV channel will also be used to offer vouchers and coupons to customers provided by third party sellers on Snapdeal.

It is not clear whether the products showcased on this TV channel will be to increase their traffic on Snapdeal marketplace, or whether the products will be available in form of tele-shopping. In our view, the latter may be quite possible, as trying to send customers to their web portal or mobile apps may not be that effective.

Delhi based DEN Networks Limited is India’s leading cable TV distribution company that claims to be reaching an estimated 13 million households across key states and cities of India by providing its Cable TV signals to Last Mile Operators, Distributors and numerous JV partners. DEN is present in 13 key states across India including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Haryana, Kerala, West Bengal, Jharkhand and Bihar.

Snapdeal has not yet officially made any announcement, but we will surely bring you more details as and when they arrive!

I saw advertisement on television of LED bulbs(10 pcs) comes with one basic IKALL mobile phone so I ordered 10 alpha LED bulbs with ikall phone by phone call but on advertisement they they mentioned 1099 price but at the time of order they said price 1400 including shipping price but still I ordered the same.
Then I next day when I was in Office and my received parcel & given Rs. 1400 INR cash on delivery.
When came back to home and opened the parcel I saw all 10 LED bulbs were totally defected, faulted, cheap in quality and phone which I received is not up to mark and phone charger and hand free is also very cheap in quality and defected
After receiving this product I was totally shocked and got hurt how can tvshop can fool me like this. I spoke to the executive on phone but they refuse to refund as they are just saying you can replace products and you will receive call after 48 hours then they will think but i want refund as these products cannot use as it is very very very cheap and useless.
I want refund of Rs. 1400 otherwise I will go to consumer court for the same. I will sue Avery one in this company.

Shame in your part because we die not receive the product not our refund but it’s for sure it’s a realy very bad experience with you people and I want my money back….

This is a superb news. It seems that Snapdeal is ready to give a tough competition to Flipkart and Amazon. It’ll be interesting to see that whether Flipkart and Amazon will also follow Snapdeal and also decide to launch a TV channel to attract more customers in India. I’m hoping that even new companies may try to reach the level of Snapdeal, Flipkart and Amazon…
