This actually suggests two very important factors:

  • India is witnessing unprecedented boom in technology sector as more and more skilled persons (atleast on LinkedIn) are choosing technology as their domain

LinkedIn was also able to find out the three most popular and in-demand skills which these new technology enthusiasts are mentioning in their profiles:

  • IT Infrastructure and Systems Management: Skills such as ITIL, Active Directory, Disaster Recovery, Enterprise Architecture, etc. are mentioned in this area
  • JAVA Development: Skills such as Java, Eclipse, JSP, Spring, etc are mentioned in this area

This is a perfect example of dumb data. This data shows just one fact – that Indians on LinkedIn are overwhelmingly technology professionals. Very few Indians outside the tech world are registered as LinkedIn members. That’s the reason for the high percentages.

Sanjeev, In this case you are actually absolutely right. The data is skewed because it takes into account only Linkedin members who are obviously Tech and hence those numbers. But, within the tech community, I think the data seems to be in line with reality..
