The whole foundation of Narendra Modi’s successful campaign has been communication, be it offline or online. Frequent messages on Twitter, Facebook and even on his blogs is a clear testament of this fact.

But if you thought that frequent communication was only for political campaigning, you are mistaken.

Do you know the first thing that Narendra Modi (or his team) did immediately after he was sworn in? The moment his oath was done, they released a brand new website for the New Prime Minister of India at

PMIndia Website

And the new Prime Minister’s first message clearly points to the fact that how much importance he gives to direct communication with masses. Here is Narendra Modi’s first message to citizen’s of India.

——–

My dear fellow Indians and citizens of the world,

Namaste!

A very warm welcome to the official website of the Prime Minister of India.

On 16th May 2014 the people of India gave their verdict. They delivered a mandate for development, good governance and stability. As we devote ourselves to take India’s development journey to newer heights, we seek your support, blessings and active participation. Together we will script a glorious future for India. Let us together dream of a strong, developed and inclusive India that actively engages with the global community to strengthen the cause of world peace and development.

I envision this website as a very important medium of direct communication between us. I am a firm believer in the power of technology and social media to communicate with people across the world. I hope this platform creates opportunities to listen, learn and share one’s views.

Through this website you will also get all the latest information about my speeches, schedules, foreign visits and lot more. I will also keep informing you about innovative initiatives undertaken by the Government of India.

Yours,
Narendra Modi

The website is clean and well made (for a change). If you have seen any Govt website till now, I am sure you will notice the difference. It is clean, intuitive and modern. It has everything one will need to know what Prime Minister or his office.

While some of the features are not yet enabled, the new website has features like Media Gallery, Social Media updates, news updates, Official Releases & Statements etc. The website also links Narendra Modi’s own Facebook and Twitter accounts and also a link to his own personal website narendramodi.in

One thing is clear, citizens will have many avenues to closely keep in touch with what the new Prime Minister is doing unlike the previous regime, where it was quite difficult to even find some of the most important things!

Would love to hear reader’s views on this!

Quite surprising that it is down…because I just accessed all the pages, and it was quite fast (which is usually not the case..). It probably may have been bought down for some updates..Nevertheless I think it is a great start!
