Qpeka Helps New Authors Bloom, Allows You To Read Books For Free

2

Often you buy a magazine or e-subscriptions, you are bound to pay for the whole thing, while there are many articles in it which you wouldn’t have paid for. This actually makes you either be more choosy about future buys and often stop paying for some. In case of a book, after reading a few pages you actually decide not to read it anymore as may not seem as enthralling as it seemed to be. And the money goes for waste.

Qpeka is a new way to cut down on that wasted money. Users can signup and start reading all the listed books and other form of writing published there. They can earn points by reading books from new authors and then use this point to read content that is tagged premium.

Once the points have exhausted they can also pay for premium content. The most important part about this payment is that it is based on the number of pages you read and not the whole book.

Qpeka New Authors

The platform allows authors to publish content written in 300 languages which encompasses all the popular languages spoken in India. It also allows new authors to monetize their content in two ways. One is the most popular advertisement model, where the author can show third party ads on their content and get a cut from the earnings or they can go the premium model which will need readers to pay an amount to access their content. It also provides ways for solo content publishers to monetize their content.

The startup is in the fundraising stage and was founded by Rahul Shelke, Abhishek Barari, Kaushal Gandhi and Dhaval Sukhia. The startup has been ranked in top 8 by Nasscom Techstock 2013 and was shortlisted for IBM catalyst program.

With hindsight, if I were to publish a book on Qpeka, I would definitely be benefitted if I knew how far my writing is read, if my writing is being abandoned mid-way and I can refine my writing to keep my readers occupied and intrigued until the end. That would surely be beneficial for a new author.

The startup is certainly building a model yet to be tried in the publishing industry and will be a pleasure for avid readers and budding writers.

However, it is too early tell how they will lure in popular writers from a full-pay model that certainly earns them much more than it would do now. The key remains in getting popular among readers which will in a way make Qpeka a good market to venture into.
