4 Simple Activities Which Can Make You Happy Today, Proven By Science
Everyone deserves to be happy because it’s such a wonderful thing to be! When you are in a happy state you are super productive and capable of achieving anything you want.
Who doesn’t want to be happy? Via this post, we shall discuss 4 easy activities which can make you happy today, as proven by science:
A) Physical Exercise:
Shawn Achor in his popular book “The Happiness Advantage” has done a path breaking experiment wherein he proved that exercise is a better alternative to fight depression, compared to meditation. He formed three groups of patients fighting depression: the first group did medication, second group did exercise and the third group did a combination of medication and exercise.
To begin with, all the three groups experienced similar levels of happiness, but what surprised him were the results after 6 months when none of the patients repeated any activities. After 6 months, 38% among the first group experienced repeated depression; 31% among the second group experienced repeated depression but only 9% from the third group had any repeated experience of depression.
Just 7 minutes of exercise in a day can help you to be happy for a longer amount of time.
B) Stay Closer to Your Job and Commute Less
Several professionals believe that even if their workplace is far away from their home, and the time to commute is more, it can be balanced by a higher salary. But they are wrong.
Two Swiss economists have researched that lesser the distance between your workplace and your home, happier you will be!
Let’s admit it, commuting daily for your office is a big headache: it lessens time spent with your family, you spent more time and money away from any meaningful task. And if commuting is made less, it directly increases happiness within a person. In their study “The Commuting Paradox”, this theory has been proved by their research.
C) Spend more time with friends and family
Harvard Happiness Expert Daniel Gilbert tells us that a person is happy when he is with his family and friends: “We are happy when we have family, we are happy when we have friends and almost all the other things we think make us happy are actually just ways of getting more family and friends.”
Bronnie Ware who is an Australian nurse, has spent several years with terminally ill patients waiting for their death. In her book “The Top Five Regrets of the Dying”, she has mentioned that staying away from your family and friends is one of the top 5 regrets of the dying person. What are you waiting for?
D) Genuinely Smile More:
There are several advantages of smiling; one of them being happiness. When you are smiling, all your worries and tensions seem to be evaporated and the internal mechanism of your brain signals that you are indeed happy. Depression will instantly vanish, and the world will be a happier place to be. Infact, it has been proved that even if your heart is in emotional pain, one single shot of smile will be enough to lift your mood.
Be happy, and stay happy!
