ICC has trusted BookMyShow, India’s largest online movie/event ticket booking site, for selling 2014 ICC World Cup online tickets, which will take place in Bangladesh between 16th March and 6th April, 2014.

BookMyShow site has been the preferred choice for IPL match ticket bookings, but this is for the first time that BookMyShow has directly collaborated with ICC to sell online tickets

You can book the tickets right here. Tickets are also available at ICC’s official website.

ICC World Cup T20

Both ICC and Bangladesh Cricket Board decided to go with BookMyShow, as it has now become India’s biggest platform to buy online tickets for various events including movies, sports events and plays. With more than 70 million views in a month, BookMyShow sells around 3 million tickets every month.

Campbell Jamieson, ICC’s general manager–commercial, said, “We are happy to be working with BookMyShow.com on an event like the ICC Twenty20 world cup 2014. BookMyShow.com has a global reach and I am sure it will allow us to reach out to maximum cricketing fans across the world.”

As per the plan, the ticketing portal will sell tickets in two phases: the current phase which is going on will continue will December 1st, and then the second phase will start from February 1, 2004. But the most interesting thing is, except Zimbabwe’s almost all tickets are sold out on BookMyShow’s ticketing portal. Maybe the tickets would start appearing during the second phase.

BookMyShow has also collaborated with Moneygram to sell tickets in 95 physical outlets across 64 districts in Bangladesh. The payments are accepted via credit card only.

KyaZoonga, which was also in the race to grab this opportunity, was not considered as it failed miserably during Sachin’s 200th and last test match. BCCI had partnered with KyaZoonga for sale of online tickets but the website couldn’t manage the hits of 20 million cricket lovers and it crashed miserably. It would be interesting to see how BookMyShow manages this huge event.

BookMyShow has clearly shown its expertise when it comes to online ticket sales, as it had successfully managed several events in the past like Formula 1 racing, IPL, Aircel Chennai Open, etc. It had recently partnered with PVR cinemas to sell movie tickets all over India. It already sells 3 million tickets in a month, and covers 2000 movie screens across 150 cities in 500 cinema theaters.

Dear Sundeep.. Thanks for pointing that out. We were really excited about this news, as the rest of cricket fans, missed one number.

Keep up the good work, and keep us in the loop, whenever you spot any typo!
