MEA Launches Android/iOS App Offering Information On All Citizen Centric Services

Ministry of External affairs has today launched a Smartphone app that aims to provide host of customer centric services information to mobile users across the world. The app called “MEAIndia” has been launched on 2 platforms currently – Android and iOS.

The MEAIndia app will act as a single window source for all information related to Ministry’s citizen centric services and outreach activities.

We downloaded the app and used it for about 15 – 20 minutes and we were quite impressed with the range of information the app offered.

What MEAIndia offers [Review]

With close to 17mb of size (on Android), MEAIndia is relatively a heavy app. However, the reason why it has a larger size is because it offers information on about 8 to 10 different areas.

passport services

E-Citizen

This section lists down Tender and notifications released by MEA on various project. It also carries all the questions that have been answered by various ministers in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. The questions and answers are listed down in detail, and will give users a full perspective of what is happening in the parliament!

Indian Missions Abroad

This section provides nice graphical map-based representation of various Indian high commissions in various countries. It also lists down their addresses, telephone numbers and other information that a user may want to know. This becomes especially invaluable when you are traveling abroad and need some emergency consular assistance. The section also carries latest news, events and activities that are carried out by Indians abroad.

Follow Prime Minister / EAM

This section offers full information with graphical representation (on maps) of various visits abroad conducted by Prime Minister and External affairs minister of India. Along with it the section also lists down incoming visits from various foreign ministers to India.

PM visits

In this section mobile users can also send a question to their minister in real-time.

Passport Services / Visa / Consular Services

Two sections of MEAIndia app offer range of information for people who are frequent travelers or citizens who are interested in visiting foreign countries. If you wish to apply for passport, it offers you address and telephone numbers of nearest passport seva kendras. You can also track your application, get information on how much various types of visa will cost you and much more.

Along with these section, app users can find more information on visiting Kailash Mansarovar, help for people who are visiting Haj etc. The MEAIndia app also offers personalization, where users can write their notes or add their favourite sections of the app.

Overall, we were quite impressed with this app launch from Indian ministry. What is heartening to see if that it quite an intuitive app and users can easily navigate various sections. Given the amount of information this app offers, the categorization and navigation is quite easy to use.

      I have given the android app link at the end… If you have iOS, search the itunes store and you should get it..
