Yahoo Opens Up Wishlist For Recycled Email IDs!

Yahoo Mail, in early 2000s, was one of the most popular web mail destination for internet users. However, they have been left behind in the game especially by likes of Gmail.

For a very long time, it looked like Yahoo did not care much about what happened to their mail users. However, in recent times it seems to have suddenly sprung up. Yahoo has overhauled the look and feel of their email inbox and now dons a look that is more appealing and user friendly.

Due to the fact that many of their users moved to Gmail and other platforms, many user IDs that were created by those early users on Yahoo mail became unused.

To re-create the buzz around their new look platform, few days back, Yahoo announced that all the email IDs that have been unused and inactive for very long time will be recycled.

These recycled email IDs will then be made available to other users for registrations.

However, Instead of simply recycling and opening up those user IDs, Yahoo has smartly created a wishlist page, where it is asking new users to register for the usernames of their choice, and if one of the usernames match the ID being requested, it will be given to them.

To their credit, Yahoo has played this well. They understand the importance of having a good email identity, and they are  creating a buzz around it by launching such a wishlist. Heck, even I would start using Yahoo mail if I get a email id which looks something like [email protected], and I am sure many others will do it as well!

Though, a bit gimmicky, I am sure many users will get on the wishlist in the hope that they capture the name they always wanted!

If you want to try your luck as well, go ahead, give 5 of your favourite names that you want from Yahoo mail. Who knows you might get it as well. The Yahoo wishlist is open till August 7th, after which they will start releasing the recycled IDs to people who have registered.
