This is one achievement Wipro should be definitely proud about – They have beaten likes of HP, Nokia, Dell, Apple, Sony and all other major electronics manufacturer to rank number one greenest electronics company in the world according to Greenpeace’s Guide to Greener Electronics ranking.

On a scale of 10, Wipro ranked an excellent 7.1 to take the top position. Wipro is followed by HP (5.7), Nokia (5.4), Acer(5.1) and Dell(4.6). Blackberry manufacturers RIM (2.0) have one of the lowest greenpeace rankings.
There is no denying the fact that we are currently in the midst of energy crisis and the way things are going currently, if proper steps are not taken, this problem may balloon to become one of the biggest problem entire global population may face in future.
What makes Wipro so Green?
Among the various parameters on which these rankings were generated, Wipro top-scored for their commitment to reduce GHG (Green House Gases) emissions by 44% by 2015, highest among all the Indian and international companies. Wipro has charted a detailed annual plan to meet its target by increasing energy efficiency and investment in renewable energy.
According to the report, Wipro is one of the biggest advocate of clean energy and solar policy and have a goal of achieving 85% of its emissions reduction through renewable energy. The electronic products manufactured at Wipro are all Energy Star compliant, while more than half (52%) of their products even exceed ES 5.0 standards.
Wipro has also received maximum score for their management of e-waste. Wipro has a convenient take-back service, where customers can send discarded products through their 17 direct and 300 authorized collection centres, the highest in India by any PC manufacturer.
