Datawind launches upgraded tablet Ubislate7+ & Ubislate7c!

Datawind wants to cash in big time on exposure it has received with Aakash tablets. All the controversies & issues with Aakash tablets aside, they have announced launch of 2 commercial upgraded versions of Aakash tablet – Ubislate7+ and Ubislate7c priced at Rs. 3000 & Rs. 4000 respectively.

UBIslate7

I presume these specs will be same upgraded specs that IIT Rajasthan want in upgraded Aakash tablets.

So except for difference in the type of screen (Capacitive vs Resistive), there seems to be absolutely no difference between the 2 tablets. The best part according to me with these tablets is that it has 2g sim card slot which will allow consumers to make and receive phone calls. To get this feature in a sub 4k tablet is absolutely amazing. It seems that Datawind has tied up with Aircel and is offering 2G data transfer  for Rs. 98 a month.

Even though the launch has been announced, I am a bit skeptical if Datawind will be able to provide these tablets soon. Obviously, they will have to fulfill the orders in hand, the biggest of which is obviously the Aakash tablet. The have yet to deliver over 90,000 tablets to MHRD still.

Consumers can go to Ubislate website and do the pre-booking, however, keep in mind that it may take more than couple of months for that tablet to reach you!
