I paid a bribe – Be a part of it!

It has happened to me many times. I am up and ready all the time against corruption however, when it comes to me with getting saved by 100 Rs with the cop, I give it away for convenience.

Unless we say, “I paid a bribe” and unless we stop being a part of it ourselves, it will be tough for us to live in a healthy and happy politics. Blaming others will not solve it anyways.

I Paid a bribe

Ever wondered, why Lalu Prasad Yadav is set free even after the chara ghotala; what happened to 2G scam, the Common Wealth games scam and there are hundreds of such cases which are forgotten with time. Why does this happen, not because these are politicians and can make or break laws at own convenience; but because there is no provision of punishment for such crimes.

In the above video [a must watch!], an ex-IAS officer T.S. Raghunandan tells us what are the problems with constitution of India which cannot punish the culprits, What changes are required and what steps can be taken to initiate a change!

I Paid a Bribe (IPAB) is an initiative by Janaagraha Centre for Citizenship and Democracy is a non-profit organization based in Bangalore, India. It works with citizens and the government to improve the quality of life in Indian cities and towns.

The term ‘quality of life’ as defined by Janaagraha has two distinct and inter-related aspects. The first is ‘quality of urban infrastructure and services’ – the quality of urban of amenities, i.e., roads, drains, traffic, transport, water supply, etc. The second aspect is the ‘quality of citizenship’ – the role that urban residents play by participating in civic issues.

What are you waiting for, why don’t you join the movement and tell your story of bribery. If you pay, you accept, or you see someone doing it. Mention it there and let us together keep the books of accounts for bribery.

Yes! I have been a person who has paid bribe. From a small Rs.50/- to a maruthi car.
But then it was long time back. But the fact remains that I have committed the sin of corruption. I have changed and since then I have neither given nor taken bribe..trust me!! I have in my own way, many a time fought against corruption. All I can boast of is though I have lost, I won in the sense of standing upright against this social evil.
I am sure public voice is the strongest vehicle for change. Lets join together and voice out to be heard and making the corrupt shudder, whether they are in the corridors of politics or business!!

According to Indian Law, a bribe giver is equally punishable as a bribe taker. Something to keep in mind before you start declaring on the website.
