[Full Rankings]

It would be interesting to see how long Nokia is able to hold on to Numero Uno position – The declining market share will surely have big impact on their rankings in coming years…what say ?

Thanks for providing your kind information. It helps me a lot in my study as a MBA studuent.

I am also collecting informations of some brand companies in India.

I quite agree with Mr Altaf Rahman.

Still in our country, the budget is primary rather the Brand consideration.

I just want to quote that the KORYO with HYDRO-JET SYSTEM and more clothes holding capacity, is best as per our experience, we’re using for last 10 months. The price too is unimaginably low. If I’m not wrong, it’s BIG BAZAR, KISHORE BIYANI’S, product.

As a person from a small town, I dont understand the brand compitition specifically Nokia Vs Colgate.

As far as I know (and like many otehr of my friends from small towns/vilalges) we completely believe, that in each segment one company is the numero uno. So when middle class people start aquiring new equipment, they go for the No.1 in that segment.

    Let me explain.
I believe the following are No. 1 in their segment :

    Mobile handsets : Nokia
    Televisions : Sony,
VCRs / CD Players : Panasonic,
    Washing Machines : Samsung,
    Refrigirators : LG,
    Laptops : HP,
    Cameras : Nikon,
    Scientific Calculators : Casio
    Mixer/Grinders : Sumeet
    And the list goes on.

Similarly in segemtns other than electronics I think the following are No.1s :
    Noodles : Maggi,
    Tooth paste : Colgate,
    Shoes : Nike,
    etc.

So when people expose themselves to the item for the first time, they check only two things brand and price.
    1) Brand, because as they are buying the item for the first time and are nervous infront of friends. They dont want their friends laughing at their choice of the company.
    2) Price. If the price difference between No. 1 and No. 2 is big, then they go for No. 2.

So I understand there is nothing like the “overall No. 1 brand” in India. Its only the survey companies who make their bread and butter by posting such surveys.

If the survey is regarding No. 1 and so on in each segment, it makes sence.

    Dear Mr. Tarun,

Thanks for your effort providing this information. It helped to my brother’s college project. How technology over powered on our daily uses necessary products. Nokia is now No.1 against Colgate……amazing!
