3G Auction is finally over and the results are out ! Here are the complete details about the 3G spectrum winners.

The Government is expected to add 70,000 crore rupees to its Kitty. The Auction ended after 34 days days of intense bidding and 183 rounds.

The government had budgeted revenues of Rs 35,000 crore from sale of air waves for 3G and Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) put together. But the 3G pricing itself has given them double the amount, which will surely help bring deficit down to a large extent. The auction for Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) spectrum would begin soon after the 3G auction is over.

It is also interesting to note that Government run BSNL & MTNL will be paying equivalent amount set during this auction, which is roughly 16,828 crore rupees.

I believe that all companies have paid very high price and it would not give much incremental revenue to them. They had no option but to bid in order to remain in the market.

Thanks for this. What does this mean? Does this mean any phone with 1900MHz will work in 3G across all these carriers throughout the country?

In the US, there is a bifurcation between AT&T and T-Mobile on 3G bandwidth that makes phones work only one one network or the other.
