iPad – Reviewers go ga-ga over it !

iPad is finally in the hands of users. Every one had been waiting with bated breath to get this killer device in their hands. And how does it fare against the huge expectation ?

I have rarely seen such overwhelmingly positive review of any other gadget – To my surprise every iPad review I read, has given this tech gadget a big thumbs up.

Here is a glimpse of what users have to say about iPad !

Xeni Jardin of BoingBoing calls iPad a touch a genius:

It strikes you when you first touch an iPad. The form just feels good, not too lightweight or heavy, nor too thin or thick. It’s sensual. It’s tactile.

Flick the switch and the novelty hits. Just as the iPhone, Palm Pré and Android phones scratched an itch we didn’t know we had—somewhere between cell phone and notebook—the iPad hits a completely new pleasure spot.

Tim Gideon of PcMag calls it a Big winner having used it for past some days:

Aside from Apple enthusiasts, many of us wondered who would drop hundreds of dollars for this not-quite-computer. But having used the iPad for some time, I can tell you that the device just makes sense. When you combine basic-but-essential work tools with iWork, an improved browser, e-mail, iPod, and photo applications, a well-executed e-Book platform with iBooks, and throw in thousands of downloadable apps and games, and package it all in a gorgeous, slim slate with a beautiful 9.7-inch touch screen, you have yourself a winner.

Andy Ihnatko of Suntimes says – iPad is pure innovation – one of best computers ever

The most compelling sign that Apple got this right is the fact that despite the novelty of the iPad, the excitement slips away after about ten seconds and you’re completely focused on the task at hand …
whether it’s reading a book, writing a report, or working on clearing your Inbox. Second most compelling: in situation after situation, I find that the iPad is the best computer in my household and office menagerie. It’s not a replacement for my notebook, mind you. It feels more as if the iPad is filling a gap that’s existed for quite some time.

Walter S. Mossberg on his WSJ Blog thinks that iPad is pretty close to be termed as a Laptop Killer

For the past week or so, I have been testing a sleek, light, silver-and-black tablet computer called an iPad. After spending hours and hours with it, I believe this beautiful new touch-screen device from Apple has the potential to change portable computing profoundly, and to challenge the primacy of the laptop. It could even help, eventually, to propel the finger-driven, multitouch user interface ahead of the mouse-driven interface that has prevailed for decades

These just very few snippets of what reviewers have to say about iPad, there are thousands more who are just relishing the new breakthrough gadget – I am sure we are going to hear many more iPad reviews for next few days.

I for one, had been quite skeptical about success of iPad, infact, many of them had already discounted iPad as a major flop, but these overwhelmingly positive reviews paint a very different picture of iPad.

What do you have to say?

Some people really don’t get the meaning of ‘toys’ for grown up men! Cars, golf sticks, mobiles, computers, game consoles, music players… they are just that – toys!

One can do pretty much anything one wants in a PC, or a mac book. Why does one need one hundred types of computers, game consoles or music players? i think we all need toys even as adults and the type has just changed. The toys no more have ‘Winnie the Pooh’ or ‘Spider man’ on them but logos of Apple and Microsoft.

I have the ipod, iphone and now waiting for the ipad. I plan to give customers a live demo of my website when I sit in their office or make a presentation to a group using my iPad (as soon as I acquire it). There is something ‘cool’ about it than just using a laptop which the customers will appreciate. (Of course, I will have to convince my wife that the money spent on the iPad is her gift for my birthday!)

i just dont agree that a device which cannot match a bare pc can be worth anything.. i would rather stick to my eeepc… on which i can do almost anything
