Came across a few articles that are claiming to have hit upon some leaked documents saying that Airtel will be offering the previous generation of iphone at much discounted rate of Rs. 18,500/-.
To be honest, I am inclined to discount this as a rumour or more so even probably an April fool joke as this article was published on April 1st ! The author has also published pictures of (so called) leaked documents. Here is one of them
When Airtel and Vodafone launched iPhone last year, it went on to be a big flop – Not many were inclined to buy it at such a high price.
Now with iPhone 3GS launching again with similar price range, we will have to see if Indian mobile consumers really fall for it – I really don’t think so !
Giving previous generation iPhones at discounted rates is a good idea (if at all this news is true) – but why would anyone go for it? Excellent Android phones are available at half the prices now and I don’t see iPhone now being such a big crowd puller anymore.
