Private Radio Broadcasters to broadcast news!

3

If you thought you are having an overdose of news with 30 odd TV news channels, here is the killer-

Private radio channels may be allowed to broadcast news sourced from news agencies in phase III of FM radio, expected to start towards end of the year– medianewsline.com.

If the trend which is followed by private news channels is also followed by FM channels then we may see another wave of innovative news broadcasting!

India FM Radio Stations

I have also discussed in my earlier post that how TV channels script news, cook it with Indian tadka and serve it hot. Those so called breaking news are either created from Youtube videos or are scripted on demand.

But if the same trend is followed over Radio FM Channels things would be much simpler (and funnier off course) – because you don’t need a Video, right?

Think of some funny ideas-

1. Radio Mirchi claiming that their frequency has caught signals from outer space which proves that there is life beyond space. [People don’t understand science, for them it’s satisfactory that a Radio Channel is talking about frequency].

2. No more comedians needed at Radio station, the program space can be filled easily using audio recording of shows like “Chotte Miyan” and “Comedy Circus”.

3. Some channels may even choose to not play Music at all. By the way, if the format is a hit and earns profit, who needs music?

I’m dying to see whether my predictions will be true or not.

Talking about the positives there would definitely be some for daily commuters who don’t get enough time to watch TV or read newspapers.

But only if they are served genuine news!

Since, people don’t expect a video from the radio, it is the best medium for breaking news.

TV has to get the video somehow. If they don’t have the video they have to make one or operate just like radio. Most of the time on TV it is broken news and not breaking news.

Now, TV channels have to work their ass off as they are competing with a new medium.
