Global crude oil prices declined by more than 1 per cent on November 2 as diplomatic discussions between Iran and Qatar raised hopes of progress towards ending the US-Israeli war on Iran. The talks eased some immediate concerns about disruptions to oil supplies from the Middle East, although uncertainty over the conflict continued to keep markets on edge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brent crude futures fell 1.4 per cent to $111.84 a barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude dropped 1.5 per cent to $102.56. The decline followed a strong rally in October, when Brent finished the month at its highest level in six months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Diplomatic Efforts Ease Immediate Supply Concerns<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Iranian and Qatari officials held discussions for a third consecutive day, seeking an agreement that could help end the conflict and reduce pressure on energy supplies. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said the consultations with Qatari mediators were continuing, while Tehran remained prepared for both diplomacy and defence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The discussions have drawn attention from oil traders because the conflict has disrupted shipments through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for global crude oil flows. Any progress towards easing tensions could reduce the risk premium built into oil prices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Markets Remain Alert to Further Escalation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite the decline, analysts cautioned that oil prices could remain volatile. The market is still sensitive to developments around Iran, including the possibility of renewed military action or further attacks on shipping.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Strait of Hormuz remains a key concern for energy markets, with tanker attacks and shipping disruptions adding to the cost and uncertainty of moving crude. These risks could push prices higher again if diplomatic efforts stall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

OPEC+ Keeps December Output Targets Unchanged<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The OPEC+ group, which includes the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and allied producers, kept its December production targets unchanged. The decision came as the group continues to face export disruptions linked to the conflict.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saudi Arabia\u2019s crude exports reportedly increased in October compared with September, despite attacks on energy infrastructure. However, the broader outlook for supply remains tied to developments in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oil Outlook Hinges on Talks and Security Risks<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The latest price drop reflects cautious optimism rather than certainty that the conflict will end. Investors will continue to monitor diplomatic discussions, shipping conditions and the risk of renewed escalation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For now, hopes of progress have eased some immediate pressure on crude prices, but the market remains vulnerable to sudden changes in the Middle East.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
