Compared with their original launch prices, the two configurations have now become ₹11,000 and ₹12,000 more expensive.

The revised pricing pushes the top-end Reno 16 close to the ₹80,000 mark, placing it in a more competitive price segment.

Why Has OPPO Increased the Price?

The latest price revision is attributed to rising dynamic random-access memory (DRAM) prices in the global market. DRAM is an essential component of smartphones, supporting multitasking, application performance and other processing requirements.

Demand for memory components has increased as AI infrastructure and data centres expand. Smartphone manufacturers are consequently facing higher component costs and pressure on profit margins.

Companies can either absorb these additional expenses or pass some of them on to consumers. OPPO’s latest move reflects the challenges manufacturers face in maintaining their original pricing amid changing supply and cost conditions.

OPPO Reno 16 Specifications

Despite the price increase, the Reno 16 retains its existing hardware specifications. The smartphone features a 6.32-inch AMOLED display with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz and is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 processor.

It runs ColorOS 16 based on Android 16 and offers a triple rear-camera system with three 50-megapixel sensors. The device also packs a 6,700mAh battery with support for 80W fast charging.

The Reno 16 is available in Starry White, Stellar Purple and Twilight Purple colour options.

What Does the Price Hike Mean for Buyers?

The higher prices could make the Reno 16 harder to recommend to buyers who prioritise value for money. At nearly ₹80,000, the top configuration faces competition from devices positioned closer to the flagship segment.

Buyers should compare current street prices, bank offers, camera performance, battery life and software support before making a purchase. Online and offline selling prices may differ depending on retailer promotions and available stock.

The Reno 16 price increase also highlights a broader challenge for India’s smartphone market: rising memory costs could make future upgrades more expensive, particularly for consumers seeking devices with larger RAM and storage configurations.

Summary

OPPO has increased the Reno 16’s price in India by ₹6,000 to ₹7,000, taking the 8GB and 12GB variants to ₹72,999 and ₹79,999, respectively. The hike is attributed to rising global DRAM costs driven partly by growing demand from AI infrastructure. With the top model nearing ₹80,000, buyers may need to compare alternatives more carefully before upgrading.

OPPO has increased the price of its Reno 16 smartphone in India by up to ₹7,000, adding to the growing list of devices becoming more expensive amid rising memory chip costs.
