Adani’s family wealth has risen to around Rs 9.23 lakh crore, while Ambani’s wealth stands at Rs 8.63 lakh crore. The latest ranking marks another change at the top of India’s wealth rankings after the two business families<\/a> have repeatedly exchanged the No. 1 position in recent years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adani’s Wealth Rises 13%<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the 2026 Hurun ranking, Gautam Adani and his family’s wealth increased by around 13% over the past year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Their combined wealth is estimated at approximately Rs 9.23 lakh crore, equivalent to around $96 billion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The increase has helped Adani move ahead of Ambani, who held the top position in the previous edition of the list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mukesh Ambani’s Wealth Falls 10%<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mukesh Ambani and his family are estimated to have wealth of Rs 8.63 lakh crore in the latest ranking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That represents a decline of around 10% from the previous year’s estimate of Rs 9.55 lakh crore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The difference between the two fortunes is now approximately Rs 59,400 crore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The figures represent estimated family wealth based on business holdings and other assets tracked by the Hurun Research Institute. They are not audited personal balance sheets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adani And Ambani Keep Swapping The Top Spot<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The latest change continues a pattern seen over the past few years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adani first overtook Ambani in 2022 before Ambani regained the top position in 2023. Adani moved ahead again in 2024, while Ambani returned to No. 1 in 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 2026 ranking has once again placed Adani at the top.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The movements reflect changes in the market valuations of the two business empires and the assets held by their respective families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

India Now Has 391 Dollar Billionaires<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The latest Hurun list also highlights the rapid expansion of India’s ultra-wealthy population.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

India now has 391 dollar billionaires, an increase of 27 from the previous year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The number of people included in the broader Hurun list has also increased. The 2026 ranking covers 1,810 individuals with wealth of at least Rs 1,000 crore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Their combined wealth has reached around Rs 187.5 lakh crore, equivalent to nearly half of India’s GDP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

LN Mittal Moves Into Third Place<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Behind Adani and Ambani, LN Mittal and his family have moved into third place with estimated wealth of around Rs 3.39 lakh crore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cyrus Poonawalla and his family are fourth with Rs 3.03 lakh crore, followed by Roshni Nadar Malhotra and her family with around Rs 2.79 lakh crore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kumar Mangalam Birla, Dilip Shanghvi and Azim Premji are also among the leading names in the ranking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AI Emerges As A New Wealth Sector<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Artificial intelligence has appeared as a standalone wealth-creation sector in the 2026 ranking for the first time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The list includes 19 people from the AI sector with combined wealth of around Rs 3.07 lakh crore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fifteen of these AI entrepreneurs are new entrants, highlighting the growing role of artificial intelligence in India’s emerging wealth landscape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adani Returns To The Top<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adani’s return to the top position marks another major shift in India’s billionaire rankings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His business interests span infrastructure, energy, logistics and other sectors, while Ambani’s Reliance empire has major interests in energy, telecom, retail and digital services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the two families separated by nearly Rs 60,000 crore in estimated wealth, the next Hurun ranking will determine whether the gap widens further or another change occurs at the top.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
