What Will ISRO Continue to Do?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\nThe agency is expected to retain a central role in advanced research and development, scientific missions, strategic missions, next-generation technologies and complex infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This includes India’s long-term ambitions in human spaceflight, lunar and planetary exploration and the development of advanced launch systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The broader vision includes establishing the Bharatiya Antariksh Station by 2035<\/strong> and pursuing an Indian crewed mission to the Moon by 2040.<\/p>\n\n\n\nThe message from the government and space-sector leadership is therefore that private participation is intended to complement ISRO rather than replace it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Why Were ISRO Employees Concerned?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\nThe clarification follows concerns raised by nine employee bodies representing thousands of ISRO staff. They had questioned whether increasing private participation could eventually result in core activities such as launch vehicle manufacturing and infrastructure moving outside the public space agency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
