They specifically want clarity on whether the design, development, integration, testing and launch of PSLV, LVM-3, SSLV and their future successors<\/strong> will continue as ISRO responsibilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\nThey have also questioned whether public-sector companies will be excluded from proposed transfers of PSLV and LVM-3 production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Concerns Over Technology and Infrastructure<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\nThe associations have raised questions about the transfer or opening of ISRO-developed technology, test facilities, launch complexes and technical expertise<\/strong> to private operators.<\/p>\n\n\n\nThey argue that these capabilities have been built over decades using public funds and the work of generations of ISRO employees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The staff bodies are seeking greater transparency over the respective roles of NewSpace India Limited (NSIL) and IN-SPACe<\/strong> in facilitating technology transfers and private-sector participation.<\/p>\n\n\n\nEmployees Fear Impact on Jobs<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\nThe proposed changes have also raised concerns about employment and career opportunities within ISRO.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The associations fear that reducing in-house manufacturing and operational work could affect sanctioned positions, promotions, recruitment and skill development<\/strong> across scientific, technical, administrative and other cadres.<\/p>\n\n\n\nThey are particularly concerned that young people seeking careers in India’s public space programme could face fewer opportunities if core activities increasingly move to external organisations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Private Sector Participation Is Not the Issue<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\nThe employee bodies have made an important distinction: they say private companies can play a major role in India’s space ambitions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Their concern is whether the transition could weaken ISRO’s institutional expertise and public accountability if too many core capabilities are moved outside the organisation without a clearly defined policy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They have therefore asked the Department of Space to provide a written response explaining the government’s long-term roadmap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
