A 70-year-old man from Ahmedabad has accused a father-son duo of allegedly cheating him of \u20b910 lakh<\/strong> after promising to arrange a Canadian visa and work permit for his 38-year-old son.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the complaint, the accused allegedly collected money through cash payments and bank transfers<\/a> between July 2023 and January 2024 but failed to deliver the promised Canadian work permit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The case has now brought attention to the growing problem of fraudulent immigration agents and fake travel documents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u20b96 Lakh Paid In Initial Payments<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The complainant, identified as Baldevbhai Hirabhai Patel, reportedly approached Nitish Vasudev Rawal after being introduced through a friend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rawal allegedly claimed that he could arrange a Canadian work permit for Patel’s son for a total cost of \u20b916 lakh<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Patel reportedly paid \u20b92.5 lakh in cash near Nana Chiloda Bridge in August 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He later transferred another \u20b93.5 lakh through RTGS<\/strong> to an account associated with Guru International, which was allegedly operated by Rawal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fake Air India Ticket Allegedly Provided<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The accused allegedly provided documents on Guru International letterhead, including details of a tour package and an Air India flight ticket in the son’s name<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The complainant later suspected that the ticket and other documents were not genuine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The alleged fake ticket was reportedly presented as part of the arrangements for sending his son to Canada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Visitor Visa Route Allegedly Promised<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

When Patel questioned the delay in arranging the work permit, Rawal allegedly told him that his son would first travel to Canada on a visitor visa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the complaint, Rawal allegedly claimed that his son, Dev Rawal, would receive the applicant in Canada and help arrange employment and a work permit after his arrival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The complainant continued making payments while waiting for the promised arrangements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More Money Allegedly Demanded<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The dispute reportedly escalated when the accused allegedly demanded additional money.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Patel eventually realised that the promised Canadian work permit had not materialised and began questioning the authenticity of the documents provided to him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He subsequently approached the police and filed a complaint alleging cheating and document fraud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two More People Allegedly Targeted<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The investigation has reportedly uncovered allegations involving other prospective migrants as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two additional individuals have allegedly approached authorities with similar complaints involving promises of Canadian and Australian visas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police are examining whether the accused operated a wider immigration fraud network and whether other applicants may have been targeted using similar methods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why Fake Tickets Are Used In Immigration Scams<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fraudulent immigration agents often use apparently genuine-looking documents to convince applicants that their overseas employment or visa process is progressing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fake flight tickets, employment letters, visa approvals and other paperwork can create the impression that an applicant is close to travelling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
