The transformation is not limited to exports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

India’s overall electronics production increased from \u20b918,000 crore in FY2014-15 to \u20b96.27 lakh crore in FY2025-26<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The sharp increase indicates that India is gradually building a larger domestic electronics manufacturing ecosystem rather than simply assembling imported components.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Women now account for nearly 30% of the workforce across the broader electronics manufacturing ecosystem<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The figure is even more striking in mobile phone manufacturing, where women account for nearly 70% of the workforce<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This makes electronics manufacturing an increasingly important source of employment for women.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Internet subscriptions have increased from around 25.15 crore in 2014 to more than 109.2 crore by March 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the same time, wireless data costs have fallen dramatically, from \u20b9308 per GB in 2014 to just \u20b97.51 per GB in 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5G Reaches 99.9% Of Districts<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

India’s digital infrastructure has also expanded rapidly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5G services are now available in 99.9% of districts<\/strong> across India’s states and Union Territories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The country had approximately 5.63 lakh 5G base stations as of June 2026<\/strong>, while 4G services had reached around 6.31 lakh villages<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Average mobile broadband download speeds have also increased from 13.67 Mbps in March 2022 to 132 Mbps in December 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Can India Become A Global Electronics Hub?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The numbers suggest that India’s electronics industry is moving beyond its earlier dependence on imports and becoming a significant export-oriented manufacturing sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The next challenge will be to increase domestic production of components, semiconductors and other critical inputs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
