According to the report, the workforce reduction took place between July 20 and July 24<\/strong> at the company’s Noida office, with many employees allegedly being informed that the day they were called into meetings would be their last working day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Several employees claimed they were asked to submit their resignations immediately, surrender their company laptop and identity card, and complete exit formalities on the same day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Multiple Teams Affected Across The Organisation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The reported layoffs were not limited to a single department. Employees from the Aaj Tak Hindi website<\/strong>, camera operations<\/strong>, video editing<\/strong>, graphics<\/strong>, fact-checking<\/strong>, Data Intelligence Unit<\/strong>, Aaj Tak Radio<\/strong>, and parts of the India Today English web team<\/strong> were reportedly impacted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The report states that while some affected employees had joined recently, others had spent over a decade<\/strong> with the organisation. Several employees earning around \u20b925,000 to \u20b930,000 per month<\/strong> were also among those reportedly laid off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Resignations And Compensation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to employees quoted in the report, those who agreed to resign were provided two months’ full salary<\/strong> as part of their settlement. Employees who declined to resign were reportedly terminated and informed that they would receive two months’ basic salary<\/strong> instead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The resignations were reportedly processed through the company’s HR platform, where employees selected reasons such as “restructuring” or entered comments stating they had resigned at the management’s direction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Financial Pressure Reportedly Behind The Move<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The restructuring comes at a time when the India Today Group<\/a> has been facing financial challenges. According to the report, the company’s annual net profit declined by 81% to around \u20b914 crore<\/strong>, while revenue fell 19% to approximately \u20b9807 crore<\/strong> during the previous financial year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The decline has been attributed to weaker advertising revenue, restructuring costs, and losses in the radio business. Although employees cited financial pressure as the reason behind the layoffs, the company had not publicly responded to the report at the time it was published.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
