The facility has been integrated into the online reservation system, allowing travellers to complete both ticket and luggage bookings in a single process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>No Change In Free Luggage Allowance<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Indian Railways has clarified that the existing <strong>free luggage allowance<\/strong> and <strong>maximum permissible luggage limits<\/strong> remain unchanged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For classes such as <strong>AC 3-Tier<\/strong>, <strong>AC Chair Car<\/strong> and <strong>Second Class<\/strong>, passengers can continue carrying luggage within the prescribed free limits without paying additional charges. Only baggage exceeding the free allowance will attract luggage booking charges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The facility will not be available for travel classes where the free allowance and maximum permissible luggage limit are the same.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What Information Will Passengers Receive?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the online booking process, passengers will be shown important details, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Class-wise free luggage allowance<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Maximum permissible luggage weight<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>List of restricted and prohibited items<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Applicable charges and penalties for carrying excess luggage<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This is expected to help travellers understand the rules before beginning their journey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A Step Towards Digital Railway Services<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Until now, passengers carrying excess baggage had to visit railway parcel offices separately to complete luggage booking formalities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With the new online system, the entire process becomes faster and more convenient, reducing paperwork and saving time at railway stations.
