The revised charges, notified through amendments to the <strong>Passports Rules, 1980<\/strong>, increase the cost of fresh passports, renewals, Tatkaal services, and several other passport-related facilities across different applicant categories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"739\" height=\"415\" src=\"https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/images-4.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1311032\" srcset=\"https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/images-4.jpeg 739w, https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/images-4-300x168.jpeg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 739px) 100vw, 739px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The revision marks the first major increase in passport application fees in several years and will <a href=\"https:\/\/www.indiatoday.in\/india\/story\/new-passport-fee-structure-from-july-1-fresh-passport-at-rs-2500-tatkaal-rs-5000-2934199-2026-06-25\">apply to applications submitted<\/a> on or after the implementation date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Fresh Passport to Cost \u20b92,500<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Under the revised fee structure, applicants aged 18 years and above applying for a fresh or reissued <strong>36-page ordinary passport<\/strong> under the normal category will now pay <strong>\u20b92,500<\/strong>, compared to the earlier fee of \u20b91,500. The <strong>Tatkaal<\/strong> fee for the same category has been increased to <strong>\u20b95,000<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For applicants opting for a <strong>60-page passport<\/strong>, the normal application fee has been revised to <strong>\u20b93,500<\/strong>, while the Tatkaal fee has been fixed at <strong>\u20b96,000<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Higher Charges for Lost or Damaged Passports<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The revised rules also increase the fees for replacing lost, stolen, or damaged passports. Reissuing a <strong>36-page passport<\/strong> under the normal category will now cost <strong>\u20b95,000<\/strong>, while the Tatkaal service will be charged at <strong>\u20b97,500<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Similarly, replacing a <strong>60-page passport<\/strong> will cost <strong>\u20b96,000<\/strong> under the normal scheme and <strong>\u20b98,500<\/strong> under Tatkaal processing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Revised Fees for Minors and Other Services<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Passport fees for applicants below 18 years of age have also been revised. A fresh or reissued <strong>36-page passport<\/strong> for minors will now cost <strong>\u20b91,750<\/strong> under the normal category and <strong>\u20b94,250<\/strong> under Tatkaal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The government has also increased charges for several related services, including <strong>Police Clearance Certificates (PCCs)<\/strong> and <strong>Certificates of Identity<\/strong>, with revised fees applicable from July 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Government Revises Rules<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The fee revision has been notified through amendments to the <strong>Passports Rules, 1980<\/strong>, issued by the Ministry of External Affairs. Officials said the revised rates will apply uniformly across all passport application centres in India and to eligible applicants applying through Indian missions abroad, with overseas fees adjusted separately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The validity period of passports remains unchanged, with adult passports continuing to be issued for <strong>10 years<\/strong>, while passports issued to minors will continue to follow existing validity norms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What Applicants Should Know<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Applicants planning to apply for a new passport or renew an existing one after <strong>July 1<\/strong> will need to pay the revised charges. Those intending to avoid the higher fees may choose to submit their applications before the new rates become effective, provided they meet the necessary documentation requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The updated fee structure affects a wide range of passport services and reflects the government&#8217;s revision of application charges under the existing regulatory framework.
