India\u2019s banking sector is witnessing another major hiring wave as State Bank of India prepares to recruit between 3,000 and 4,000 employees for a specialized loan collection and recovery division. The recruitment drive is expected to roll out over the next year and will focus primarily on field-based recovery operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"SBI<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

SBI Chairman CS Setty confirmed the plan while discussing the bank\u2019s FY26 performance,<\/a> saying the lender is building a \u201cstrong collections mechanism\u201d to strengthen underwriting and recovery systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why SBI Is Expanding Its Recovery Workforce<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Interestingly, the hiring push comes even though SBI currently has one of the healthiest balance sheets in the Indian banking sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the March 2026 quarter:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Net NPA ratio improved to just 0.39%<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Gross NPA declined to 1.49%<\/li>\n\n\n\n

    So why hire thousands of recovery staff now?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The answer lies in India\u2019s changing banking regulations and rising loan growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
