The Hinjewadi-Shivajinagar Metro corridor is expected to open its <a href=\"https:\/\/timesofindia.indiatimes.com\/city\/pune\/pune-metro-ready-to-roll-hinjewadi-shivajinagar-line-set-to-open-12-stations-soon\/photostory\/131011949.cms\">first 12 stations b<\/a>y June-end 2026, bringing major relief to lakhs of IT employees and daily commuters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"539\" src=\"https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Screenshot-2025-06-27-at-12.22.27-PM-1024x539-1.png\" alt=\"1st Phase Of Hinjewadi Metro To Have 12 Stations, Opening In June\" class=\"wp-image-1309412\" srcset=\"https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Screenshot-2025-06-27-at-12.22.27-PM-1024x539-1.png 1024w, https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Screenshot-2025-06-27-at-12.22.27-PM-1024x539-1-300x158.png 300w, https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Screenshot-2025-06-27-at-12.22.27-PM-1024x539-1-768x404.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The initial operational stretch will run from Maan to Balewadi, while the remaining section toward Shivajinagar is expected to become operational by October 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A Metro Built For Pune\u2019s Worst Traffic Nightmare<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The 23.2-km fully elevated Metro Line 3 has been specifically designed to solve Pune\u2019s infamous Hinjewadi traffic crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Every day, thousands of tech employees travel between:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Hinjewadi IT Park<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Wakad<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Baner<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Balewadi<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Shivajinagar<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The corridor currently witnesses severe congestion, especially during peak office hours, with commuters often spending 2-3 hours daily stuck in traffic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once operational, the Metro is expected to significantly cut travel time between Pune\u2019s central business districts and the Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park in Hinjewadi \u2014 one of India\u2019s biggest IT hubs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">12 Stations Opening In First Phase<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>According to PMRDA officials, the first phase will include 12 stations on the high-demand Hinjewadi side of the corridor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The full Metro Line 3 project includes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>23 stations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>23.203 km elevated route<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Integration with existing Pune Metro Lines 1 and 2<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Connectivity with railway infrastructure at Shivajinagar<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Successful trial runs have already been conducted across the entire route, and the project is reportedly over 95% complete. Final launch depends on safety approvals from the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">India\u2019s First PPP Metro Project<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the biggest highlights of Pune Metro Line 3 is its execution model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project is India\u2019s first Metro corridor being developed under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
