More than 6,500 families are expected to benefit from the compensation package, with some landowners likely to receive close to \u20b92 crore per acre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ambitious airport project is expected to become Pune\u2019s second international airport<\/a> and a major economic catalyst for western Maharashtra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Compensation Fixed At \u20b91.61 Crore Per Acre<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

According to officials, the base compensation rate for acquired land has been fixed at approximately \u20b91.61 crore per acre. However, the actual payout for many farmers may rise further after including compensation for:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Houses and structures<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Fruit trees<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Wells and borewells<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Pipelines and irrigation systems<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Sheds and farm infrastructure<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    Authorities stated that many landowners could ultimately receive around \u20b92 crore per acre on average once all additional assets are evaluated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Seven Villages To Be Affected<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    The airport project will require acquisition of nearly 1,216 hectares of land spread across seven villages in Purandar taluka:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    • Udachiwadi<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Kumbharvalan<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Ekhatpur<\/li>\n\n\n\n

    • Khanvadi<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      Officials said around 1,300 survey numbers are involved in the acquisition process. The administration has formed dedicated teams to handle documentation and compensation distribution in each village.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Extra Benefits Beyond Cash Compensation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

      Apart from direct land compensation, the government has announced several rehabilitation and support measures for affected families. These reportedly include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      • 10% developed land return to farmers<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Employment opportunities linked to the airport project<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Additional plots for displaced households<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Compensation for fruit trees and forest trees<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Wage support for landless labourers and marginal farmers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

        The administration has also partnered with the Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics to help villagers with financial planning and investment guidance, as many families may suddenly receive very large payouts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Farmers Still Have Concerns<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

        Despite the high compensation package, not all farmers are fully satisfied. Some landowners reportedly believe the rates are lower than compensation offered in earlier infrastructure projects around Pune.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Farmers from villages like Pargaon and Kumbhar Valan have argued that the land is fertile agricultural land and deserves even higher valuation. However, officials maintain that the compensation formula is final and uniform across all affected villages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Why Purandar Airport Matters<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

        The Purandar airport project is being planned as Pune\u2019s future international aviation hub because the existing Lohegaon Airport faces operational and expansion limitations due to military usage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
