A high-end residential township in Gurgaon has banned Zomato and Swiggy, along with car washing and maid services for residents. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

And the reason behind this is the non-clearance of their maintenance dues!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Residents\u2019 Welfare Association (RWA) at Uppal Southend has resorted to this way of getting<\/a> people to clear their maintenance dues. A large notice board has also been placed at the main gate that displays the names of those who have not paid their maintenance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gurgaon Township Cuts Food Delivery and Services Over Unpaid Maintenance Dues<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The notice clearly states the consequences for defaulters, \u201cPlease note that effective today, all non-essential services-including maid services, car washing, and delivery services such as Zomato and Swiggy-will be suspended until the dues are fully cleared. All residents whose payments are due and whose names are displayed on the notice board are requested to clear their outstanding dues at the earliest.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The notice also mentions that defaulters and PG occupants will not be allowed to participate in RWA-organised social events. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this curious case, there are several people whose unpaid dues go back many years as far as 2012, and even 2009, with the outstanding amounts exceeding \u20b91 lakh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Township is located close to the upscale DLF Camellias area and properties are priced at a minimum of \u20b92 crores.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The board has drawn attention within the community. In fact, one of the residents supported this move, saying, \u201cSo many people have not given\u2026 It\u2019s good. Maybe now they will start.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another resident, Anil Rastogi, has stated, \u201cOurs is a township dependent on civic bodies for many amenities, hence the dues are needed,\u201d he said. \u201cSome people had not paid for a long time. It was causing difficulty, but now they will slowly begin to understand.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

RWA Says Past Crackdown Recovered Dues, Services Still Running Despite Warning<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The RWA president, Col Surender Kumar Yadav, explained that a similar strategy was used in 2023, which helped recover a large amount of pending dues. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He stated, \u201cThis time too the dues piled up. No one is opposing. We are explaining to residents to pay up. We have kept the services \u2013 delivery and maids \u2013 going since some workers tend to multiple residents.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the other hand, former RWA president Advocate Rajesh Khatana stated, \u201cDuring our time, we would send weekly reminders of pending invoices, hold monthly meetings over the dues, and grievance redressal sessions too. Now without properly reminding and intimating residents, they are being named publicly.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite this, security guards at the gate hinted that the restrictions might not be strictly enforced in practice. One of them also said, \u201cBoard can say anything\u2026 But we cannot keep people hungry, right?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
