The new MacBook Neo cuts that entry price nearly in half.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Apple hopes this aggressive pricing will expand Mac adoption globally, especially in education markets where Chromebooks currently dominate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The laptop is available for <strong>pre-order immediately<\/strong>, with official sales expected to begin <strong>March 11, 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Powered by an iPhone Chip<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Unlike other Macs that use Apple\u2019s M-series processors, the MacBook Neo runs on the <strong>A18 Pro chip<\/strong>, the same processor used in the iPhone 16 Pro lineup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This makes it the <strong>first Mac to use an iPhone-grade chip<\/strong>, helping Apple keep costs lower while still delivering solid performance for everyday tasks such as browsing, document editing and streaming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The laptop includes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>8GB unified memory<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>256GB or 512GB storage options<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support for <strong>macOS Tahoe<\/strong> and Apple\u2019s AI features.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Display, Design and Colors<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The MacBook Neo features a <strong>13-inch Liquid Retina display<\/strong> with a resolution of <strong>2408 \u00d7 1506 pixels<\/strong> and brightness up to <strong>500 nits<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Apple has also introduced several new colors inspired by earlier products like the iBook, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Silver<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Indigo<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Blush<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Citrus.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The laptop weighs about <strong>2.7 pounds (1.23 kg)<\/strong> and is designed to be thin and lightweight for portability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Trade-Offs to Keep the Price Low<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To achieve the lower price point, Apple has made a few compromises compared with higher-end MacBooks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For example:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The keyboard <strong>does not include backlighting<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Memory cannot be upgraded beyond <strong>8GB<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Only <strong>two USB-C ports<\/strong> are included.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite these limitations, the device still offers features like a <strong>1080p FaceTime camera, Wi-Fi 6E, Touch ID (on higher storage models), and up to 16 hours of battery life<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Apple\u2019s Strategy Behind the Neo<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The MacBook Neo is part of Apple\u2019s broader push to expand its hardware lineup across different price segments.
