After much anticipation, India\u2019s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki<\/strong> has officially launched its first fully electric SUV, the e-Vitara<\/strong>. The maiden EV from Maruti was revealed with an innovative Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS)<\/em> pricing model that brings down the upfront cost to just \u20b910.99 lakh (ex-showroom)<\/strong> \u2014 excluding the battery \u2014 making it one of the most affordable electric SUVs in the Indian market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS): A Game Changer?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Under the Battery-as-a-Service<\/em> scheme, buyers purchase the car excluding the battery and pay a battery rental cost<\/strong><\/a> of around \u20b93.99 per kilometre<\/strong> driven. This approach significantly reduces the initial cost of the vehicle and can make EV ownership more accessible, especially for first-time EV buyers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to the base price announcement, bookings for the e-Vitara are already underway with a token booking amount of just \u20b921,000<\/strong>, and deliveries have started rolling out from showrooms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Full Prices Still Rolling Out<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

While the BaaS entry price is confirmed, the complete pricing<\/strong> \u2014 including variants without the battery rental plan \u2014 has also emerged. According to dealer sources and recent reports, when bought with the battery included, the e-Vitara\u2019s price ranges from around \u20b915.99 lakh to \u20b920.01 lakh (ex-showroom)<\/strong> depending on the variant and battery pack chosen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The e-Vitara isn\u2019t just competitively priced \u2014 it\u2019s also feature-packed. It offers two battery options (49 kWh and 61 kWh), delivering a claimed range of up to 543 km<\/strong> on a full charge. The EV SUV comes with modern tech and comfort features, advanced infotainment, and safety systems \u2014 all packaged in a bold SUV design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
