The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation is working on a new mobile application that will let members transfer their EPF savings directly into their bank accounts using the UPI system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

EPFO Develops New Mobile App to Enable Direct EPF Withdrawals via UPI<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This upcoming app, which is expected to be introduced around April 2026<\/a>, is designed to make it easier for millions of subscribers to access their provident fund money, according to a report by Press Trust of India citing a senior source.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through the new platform, users will be able to check their eligible EPF balance and move funds instantly via UPI, eliminating many of the delays associated with the current withdrawal process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The initiative is part of a larger digital revamp referred to as EPFO 3.0, aimed at simplifying withdrawal procedures, improving transparency, and cutting down claim settlement times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At present, the system is being tested using dummy accounts so that technical issues can be detected and resolved before it is launched nationwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The organisation has already raised the auto-settlement limit to \u20b95 lakh, which is expected to speed up claim approvals once the UPI-based withdrawal feature becomes operational.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New EPFO App to Offer Aadhaar Verification, Claim Tracking, and Digital Passbook Access<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The new app will also include Aadhaar-based verification, digital tracking of claims, and easy access to passbook balances within the same platform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sources indicate that the labour ministry is preparing for an official rollout in April 2026, and the facility could potentially serve nearly 8 crore EPF members across India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The move is expected to make accessing funds more convenient during urgent situations such as medical emergencies, housing expenses, or other financial needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to information shared with PTI, while a portion of EPF savings may continue to remain locked in to ensure retirement security, a significant share will be available for immediate transfer into bank accounts through UPI using the new app.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before the launch, subscribers are advised to ensure that their Universal Account Number (UAN) is fully compliant with KYC requirements, including Aadhaar verification and linking of their bank account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Completing KYC formalities in advance will be crucial for smooth, hassle-free withdrawals and quicker processing once the UPI-enabled system goes live.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
