Recently, Etihad Rail\u2019s CEO Shadi Malak met Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the ruler\u2019s representative in Abu Dhabi\u2019s Al Dhafrah region, to update him on progress, including how ready the passenger stations are.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The national passenger train network is officially planned to begin operations in 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Azza AlSuwaidi, Deputy CEO of Etihad Rail Mobility, highlighted the broader vision behind the project, stating: \u201cOur preparations to launch passenger services across the national railway network in 2026 reflect the vision of our wise leadership to build an integrated transport ecosystem that supports the UAE\u2019s economic and social fabric.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The passenger rail system will form the UAE\u2019s first fully integrated national railway for passengers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It will link 11 cities and regions through strategically positioned stations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The listed station locations are Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Fujairah, Al Sila\u2019, Al Dhannah, Al Mirfa, Madinat Zayed, Mezaira\u2019a, Al Faya, and Al Dhaid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
These stations will open in stages rather than all at once.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the initial phase, the network will connect 11 cities and areas chosen for their strategic importance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Chief Projects Officer Eng. Mohammed Alshehii explained the selection process, saying the locations \u201chave been carefully selected within key locations such as Mohammed Bin Zayed City in Abu Dhabi, Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai, University City in Sharjah and the Al Hilal area in Fujairah.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The passenger trains have been designed to deliver a modern and comfortable travel experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The service is expected to shorten travel times between stations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
