In a recent development<\/a>, there are two significant road infrastructure projects in Pune including districtTalegaon\u2013Chakan\u2013Shikrapur corridor and the Hadapsar\u2013Yavat highway\u2014have received administrative approval and they are set to start the construction from next month. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

How Did This Happen?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It appears that Montecarlo Ltd, which is based in Ahmedabad, has been identified as the lowest bidder for both of these projects, said the officials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both of these projects will be overseen by the Maharashtra State Infrastructure Development Corporation (MSIDC) and presently is in the final stages of completing tender processes before issuing work orders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Out of these, the Hadapsar\u2013Yavat highway project is estimated at Rs 6,426 crore which is going to be a crucial eastward link connecting Pune city with the Solapur Road and extending into eastern Maharashtra. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Presently this route is experiencing heavy freight and commuter traffic which mostly result in frequent congestion and safety issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After this implementation, the corridor is anticipated to significantly reduce travel time, enhance road safety, and facilitate smoother goods movement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Talegaon\u2013Chakan\u2013Shikrapur corridor, estimated to cost Rs 6,222 crore, is an essential route for Pune\u2019s industrial sector, linking manufacturing centers in Chakan, Talegaon, and Shikrapur MIDC areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Easing Traffic & Decreasing Logistics Expenses<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This route is crucial as it is part of the logistics network connecting Pune with Mumbai, Nashik, and Aurangabad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both of these projects will include road widening, strengthening of existing roads, and the construction of elevated sections at key intersections to ensure better traffic flow as mentioned by the officials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They have also included service roads, improved drainage, and enhanced safety features in this project scope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It appears that Montecarlo submitted the lowest financial bids for both corridors after a technical review and paved the way for prompt execution once final approvals are received.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Long-term benefits for commuters and logistics<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The construction should start in about four weeks and is anticipated to take two to three years, depending on land acquisition approvals and seasonal factors as per the announcement by MSIDC officials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They will also carefully track the progress to have a guaranteed on-time completion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After completion of these projects, the improved highways are projected to ease traffic, decrease logistics expenses, and foster sustained urban and industrial development throughout the Pune district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
